Default yes, I'm hungry, but....

I haven't eaten anything today, yet. I have had 4 - 16.9 ounce bottles of water, 1 - 16.9 ounce bottle of lemon Propel (I love that stuff!) and two cups of coffee (okay, I admit that my cups are 20 ouncers). I also have had one Slim-fast Optima, high protein and am saving the other one for later tonight since I am a nocturnal eater. I know that I shouldn't do that but I know that after dinner I will be alright, for awhile and then my habit of picking at night will set in so for a few days I am going to do the shake in the morning, load up on liquid during the day (and run to the bathroom constantly!), have dinner and then do the second shake later.

If that doesn't work, I will be on here whining and asking for HELP!

BTW, dinner is 6 ounces very lean pork loin with a couple of tablespoons of FF gravy, roasted cauliflower instead of potatoes and steamed broccoli and carrots with FF cheese on it. That should work for high protein, low carb, low fat, and low sugar shouldn't it?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

SOUNDS good but im not sure of the carbs
in gravey, sometimes fat free means they
have added SUGAR!!! got to read the full label!

HONESTLY, skipped meals tend (pre op and late
post op ) causes me to over endulge when i do
eat cause im too hungry!

Im pre op to honey. The one thing I have noticed is what Lisa is talking about. Fat Free stuff alot of times has alot of sugar. Considering your only doing the meal part like only for a week or two I dont know that it would hurt you that much? I honestly dont know the answer to that. So Slim Fast has a drink that is high in Protein?

I'm sorry, I should have explained better. I make my own version of FF gravy and it has no sugar and is made with just a bit of oat flour that I grind from organic oats and concentrated chicken broth that I also make and just cook down to almost a syrupy consistancy. So sugar isn't a issue with that.

It isn't that I am trying to lose pre-op but I am sure that I will drinking two protein drinks and having only one meal per day for the next two weeks. I am just trying to follow what the doctor said without feeling the urge to eat after 8 PM so I thought that I could drink the last shake around then instead of during the day when I don't have a problem.

Slim Fast does have a higher protein drink than the normal. You just have to look for it. It still is only 14g of protein but the regular has only 10. I will have to opt for the make your own protein powders in two weeks to get enough protein each day but for now I can make up the difference with my one meal a day.

Good for you! I wish I had done that! My doc didn't have any rules before surgery, and I was BAD. Had to have everything just one last time... So instead of starting at 320, I started at 330... DUH!

I've noticed a change in my eating habits - not so much on purpose, I just feel different about food. I've really been working on eating to live vs. living to eat ~ actually I've just decided I want to LIVE! Guess I finally made the bad food = bad outcome connection. With that said I've lost a couple pounds, nothing major, but I did buy some canned eggnog - not recommended - cant imagine Christmas without it, but if it tastes like the stuff I just bought shouldn't be a problem!!!! LOL It's going to be a major adjustment to not eat at night for us too. I typically get home from work and start cooking late. With my son taking college classes in the evening, it's even more challenging - we dont get home til after 8. Thank heaven for my daughter - and her desire to cook!!!

I agree with the gravy thing as well. I stay pretty clear of things like that, but the rest of the meal sounds just about perfect. I don't do potatoes at all either. I have a real hard time at night with not eating. That is the time of day where I always winded down, and of course, had to have something in front of me. That is still a real killer for me. I do the best I can with it though. When I do fall off at night though, I don't dwell on it. Usually, it is nothing to awful terrible for me. Most of the time it is a peice of fruit. I feel less guilty. lol I have found I have to do this more times than not though, because of my little episodes with the blood sugars, which I have replied to in other posts. I think you are doing great though otherwise. Keep up the good work. As far as the hungers, I think all of us still get our days with that. We are still the same people. Just remember to stay strong for the most part, not to get into your old habits. mike

I wish my doctor let me do that diet. I had to do 4oz of chicken and 1 1/2 veggies nothing on them. and that was only a week and 4 days. now im on straight shakes no food for almost 6 weeks

hang in there though the first 4 days will be the worst then it gets easy.

good luck

Celadon,

My doctor had me to do slim fast low carb diet and it has 20g of protein. That is the only slim fast shake that she allows.

Good luck on your quest.
