Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Okay, so today I had my pcp visit and she was supportive, which is a good thing. She is setting me up with a dietician so I can start the stupid, assinine six months supervised diet plan. I can't rant enough about that insurance stipulation because is there really any female in the universe who has been fat for 34 years who has not tried a kabillion diets?? It just lacks common sense for me. I guess if I were twenty (no offense to any 20 year olds here) maybe then I could understand, but I'm almost 41! /rant So anyway, I'm now waiting to hear about that appointment from my pcp. I'm assuming I cannot even schedule surgery until my six month diet crap is completely over, right? How long does it tend to take to get a surgery date?

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I'm sure every insurance co. is different but after the 6 mo diet thing, it was about two or three weeks for insurance approval, then about two weeks for surgery date, then 1 1/2 mo till surgery. Diane

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Well honey......its all different. I have seen people in here wait until they finish the diet then.....get sent to a surgeon. I have seen people go straight to the surgeon then back to the PCP. Now what you need to do and Im only gonna say this for your own benefit.......if you haven't called the insurance company yourself........ you need to do it. They might not even require it. Then again they may. You need to know the exact list you have to meet so you don't come up against something when you go to schudule the actual surgery. Many have done that here. Rule of thumb for this room I have noticed and its not exact..... It will take about 3 months from the time you visit your surgeon to the day you have this done. Some are much faster.......some are much slower. If you don't mind sharing the insurance company with us. I ask that so we might can help others when they start this up. aka give them information we already know. Listen..... have you ever been on a diet with your PCP before within the last 5 years? If so that is enough to submit without doing it again. Let us know what you find out. And honey if you already told me once........I apologies for it. I love the pic.....!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Okay, so new update...Ijust called my insurance company, which is Optimum Choice if you are interested. Curves does count or so Lori said. Now, I pulled out my Curves records and my original weigh in date with them was April of 2006. Then I have record of a weigh in on March 8, 2007 and on April 11, 2007 and I know there is one more in my car for May. Does that cover three months or only two?? I also questioned Lori about the doctor diet thing and she said that they are mostly looking for documentation that I have tried to lose weight in the past. So, as long as my doctor documents it and I weigh in for the next three months, that should count, right? Or, I just go back to Curves for three months to complete the other three months. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | did your ins co send this to you in writing? i never trust the dingbats that answer the phone. you will get a different story everytime you call...does it have to be 6 consecutive months or any 6 months in your lifetime? see if i were a dr in this field, i'd totally write bogus notes for people. i hate insurance companies and how they make people jump thru hoops for this. honestly. i could understand if it was purely a cosmetic surgery, but there is proof that this procedure works and saves lives. what happends after the 6 months? will they deny it because you have lost the weight and will no longer be considered obese or in medical need at that point?? sorry im on my soapbox again...i apologize. |
