Default 2 Week Pre-Op Liquid Diet

Hi,

I am on day 5 of my 2 week liquid diet...omg, the first 3 days were easy, but it is getting harder and harder, I think. I have been doing this everyday and sticking to it. I lost 5 pounds in the first 3 days and and have been there for the last 2. It is kind of depressing to me, because I feel like I should be losing some everyday. Am I wrong? I have a Carnations SF Instant Breakfast shake every morning and and cup of broth or Campbell's cream soup to go for lunch. I am getting less than 400 calories before I have my dinner. I look so forward to dinner every night...I had a baked Chicken Breast and salad last night. I do notice that in the mornings I have to make myself do the shake, but the afternoon I get so weak and hungry. Tonight will be a hamburger patty (without the bun) and salad. I absolutely love the Spring Mix salad kit.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Most of the ones I've met who have had to do any of the preop liquids it's liquid ONLY for the 2 weeks pre??

just curious

Hi Bree,

I am not sure, but I got a call from the surgeons office and an email telling that I had to replace my morning and noon meal with liquid and have a normal evening meal. I don't know why they want it that way, but I am doing like they ask, I just don't want anything to mess it up for me on my pre-op next week.

good job so far! dont get discouraged about the weight loss. you are doing fine. i didnt have to do this liquid thing and to behonest i dont think i could have so I have to give all the people that have been required to do this LOTS of credit for having the strength and willpower to stick to it. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

oh and also, i ve seen quite a few versions of the liquid diet out there. so just remember to follow what the doc ordered and you WILL be a success

I was one of the "fortunate" ones that had to do a 10 day CLEAR liquid diet. Lemme tell ya, it wasn't easy. Plus, on top of that I was quitting smoking too. But I was SO nervous about getting the surgery, that I NEVER cheated once with it. I think my fear was so great, and THAT is what kept me on track. PLUS the day before I started the diet, I had went to urgent care for strep throat! So I REALLY felt cheated on not being able to have my "last supper" lol But I made it thru and have NOT regretted one moment of it!!! Just do what you have to do, FOR YOU!! You're doing a GREAT job this far!!! Good luck in your journey!

Your weight won't come off in a slope, it will come off in bumps and humps--like a staircase.
You're doing fine, hang in there,

Thanks guys, I really do appreciate all of your energy and encouragment! It is people like you who make these boards worth using! I am staying with this, I know that I have to. I think that I will stick with the Carnation Instant Breakfast, because I am really enjoying them. The kids don't even know that they are the DREDDED Sugar Free! HAHA. I hope that I have the same luck that all of you are having after the surgery. I know that I will be spending a lot of time on here after the surgery. I am a "keep busy" kind of person, so the being out of work for 6 weeks is going to drive me NUTS! I am now trying all different protein powders to find the one tha likes me! So far I would have to say unjury. I tried the sample from bariatric edge in the bottle and well, I mixed it took a sip and hurrily put it back in the fridge...BLAHHH!

I had to do a pre-op diet that had nothing but liquid and even with that I did not loose as much weight as you would have thought. I think I may have lost 12 pounds, and I did not cheat. Hang in there and do what your doc has instructed you to do and you will be fine.

Hi Roz,

This preop is the worst!!! The liquid diet, the waiting in anticipation for the surgery date. I am actually being very good and diligent in the whole process. Thank you for the support, it really means a lot. You guys ROCK!
