| Facing Gastric Bypass Reversal 9-6-2007
Hi Folks,
I generally post on another forum, and just found this one. I had initial GBS surgery 7-5-2005, and have suffered major complications. I have numerous problems from the surgery, the major and most painful problem is severe reflux. I have so much acid coming up that it causes me to dump.. and I have severe burning with it. I've been told by a heartburn doctor that the only way to correct this is to just remove my pouch, and old stomach and call it a day. My bariatric doc says reversal is the first step. I'm pretty scared.. never did I expect to be facing such complicated surgery now. I'm only 44 yrs old and I can say that I feel like I ruined my life having this surgery. I am not going to go round and round about this, however I just know that I'm going to walk through this like I've done all other things in my life. If anyone believes in a higher power, god, or postive thoughts.. send them my way please. Janie

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Sorry to hear of your problems, and wishing you that your pending surgery will help in taking care of them.
It's true this surgey has its bad sides as well as its good sides, and alongside with general data, the journey each person had to take, will be individual, and so, different for every single person. You will have one thing in common with some people, and something else in common with others. That's what makes this whole journey a ver difficult and individual one. You all have exceptional strength and courage to go through this journey.
We'll all be keeping you in our prayers and thoughts that everything work out for the best for you.
(((((((HUGS)))))))) May your journey go well.

Hi thanks for the well wishes, it means a bunch to me! I had the complications from day 1. I actually was not sick until I started eating food.
The liquids in the beginning I was fine, and then when I introduced food into my system it went haywire. Never has gotten better, only worse. I have tried to live like this.. for too long and made the decision to reverse. Bariatric doc told me months ago that was my only option. Take care Janie Quote:

Janie,
I'm so sorry that you have had such a hard time. Thank you for coming to our site to share. I think everyone needs to know all the ups and downs to this surgery so they can make an informed decision.
I will send a prayer that the reversal resolves all your problems.
Barb

I send my prayers and good vibes to you and your upcomeing surgery. Sorry that you have to go through it but glad to "hear" such a good attitude for such a rough patch of ground. I believe that attitude goes a long way toward overcoming any obsticle and if that's true, your going to be OK.
