| Oh the horror, my weigh in Well, I had my weigh in and last night of course TOM shows up I am up a half a pound. I have one more weigh in the 17th of September. I was given a prescription for Meridia. Of course insurance doesn't cover it, and its not cheap. So I was given the name of some alternative medications. Then called back to the office and was told the Dr. would have to ok it first. Anyway, my weight has gone down a little, up a little but not down, and stay down. How in the world am I going to get 20 pounds off by Sept. 17th? I was told since I switched to the EAS shakes to only drink one. Have 2 servings of protein, 2 cups of veggies, and plenty of water. Exercise as always I guess I will have to push myself even harder. I was doing swimming laps, doesn't seem to get the loss I need. So I added in walking. Have any of you heard, is a loss 15-20 pounds possible in a month? It is so depressing to eat so little, exercise so much and not show a loss. I have Celiacs, so the carbs or lack of doesn't really bother me at all. I am not on medications for it. I don't want to be denied, and its really upsetting to try so hard to fail and fail. Oh also I was told after the next weigh in, they would turn in my papers to the insurance. They would want me to keep coming for weigh-ins though so when I get a loss they could resubmit. Why won't my body cooperate, I don't know.

I did the liquid diet for 2 weeks and was extremely faithful to it, and I think that I had only lost 6 lbs total. I know it is hard and very frustrating, but it really is the best thing that you can do for yourself before surgery. I hope that it all works out best for you though.

I am sorry to hear you are having a hard time. The supervised diet stuff is hard especially when you need to loose weight in order for them to schedule your surgery. 15-20 pounds is possible but you have to be really diligent.
I wish you well on your journey!

Cherri, it sure sounds frustrating. That's a lot to lose in a month, but like the other ladies have said, its possible. Have you considered maybe an all liquid diet to help? Or maybe Atkins or South Beach for a couple of weeks before to jump start? And maybe you're excercising too much? You could be turning fat into muscle, which isn't a bad thing for your health, but might not help your weigh in. Swimming is actually a great excercise. And like they said, water, water, water....

I did the liquid diet not once, but twice because my surgery date was rescheduled.
The first time I lost 25 lbs in 2 weeks clear liquid diet very faithful.
I had two weeks in between to eat normal again and I gained 10 of it back.
The second time I was mostly faithful but sometimes ate, and endedup 28 lbs lighter.
You can do it, be diligent. If having this surgery is important to you, you need to evaluate whats important. If in order to get approved youneed to lose X amount of lbs, then so be it. You won't die of starvation - trust me. I lived!
Good luck to you!

I was on a clear liquid diet for 10 days before surgery. I ended up losing about 14 pounds. I know it's not easy. But if you want this bad enough, take the steps you have to take to help you lose. But I would suggest if you decide to go on a liquid diet, make sure you take your vitamins. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you.
