Smile Hello All!

Hi Everyone!!!

I am a newbie. Just joined yesterday. Wish I had found this site sooner! After years of the roller-coaster rides battling my weight I am finally going in for surgery! I am tentatively scheduled for September 28th, 2007 and I can't wait! My mom just had the surgery 3 months ago and is doing incredible! I can only hope the same will be true for me! I have spent a few hours looking through the posts here and I have to say that I think everyone here is wonderful! You all seem very supportive and have great ideas/experiences to offer!
Unfortunately, since starting on this journey to surgery I have not been able to lose any weight but instead have gained more! I have changed my eating habits and I am eating alot more fruit and veggies. I've tried several of the protein shakes and I pretty much like them all. I drink water constantly (i know i exceed the recommended 64oz a day!)Any tips on breaking through this plateau would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hi Hope,

It gets very stressful in the pre-op phase when you are trying to lose that weight for the surgery. I think that I only lost 6lbs during my 2 weeks, even though I was extremely focused and was faithful. Just dont let it get you down. Are you doing the liquid diet prior to surgery? I wish you the best of luck!

Hi Kim!

Stressful? Yes! Depressing? Definitely! Now throw in a little anxiety on top of it all and you have ME!!

I am not required to do the liquid diet before surgery. I see a nutritionist once a month and just modify my diet each time. I have considered doing the liquid diet just to get some weight off to help the surgeon. Even though I know that my surgery is right around the corner, it is still very stressful to step on the scale and weigh in heavier than when I started. I know that the more I lose pre-surgery, the easier it will be to reach my goal weight. Any suggestions?

welcome to the boards. You've come to a very special place congrats on getting a date. I wasnt required to lose anything pre-op so i wouldnt be able to tell you how to even go about that. I am sure no matter which methos you choose, you will do well.

Well, I had a SF Carnations breakfast in the mornings, a sf pudding cup for a snack and Slim Fast or Atkins shake for lunch and dinner was low carb/fat and high protein meal. That seemed to do what they wanted! It was horrible for the first 3-4 days, but once I got past that, it was smooth sailing. And the protein powders, dont buy too many of them pre-op as your taste will surely change post-op.

Oh, you are welcome...that is what we are all here for. That worked out really well for me and I was so looking forward to dinner each and every evening! I also ate SF Jello throughout the day if I felt that I was hungry. Ate so much of that, that I can no longer eat it! LOLOL
