 |  Telling Best Friend About Surgery!!
Ok here goes. I have this dear life long friend Donna, we have been friends since 1st. grade. We are now both 47 which means we have been friends for 41yrs. We talk all the time, she use to live in PA where we grew up. She has since moved to NJ. We only see each other about 3 or 4 time a year. My friend is also very heavy we have been heavy together all our lives. She knows nothing about the surgery, she has no idea all of the reasearch or testing and cleareances I have been through. I told only my immediate family about what I was undertaking. Since I found this site and have gotten so much support and read alot of posts I have begun to tell more and more people. The last one left before surgery next Monday is my Donna. We have tried for the last couple of weeks to get together for dinner, I just did not want to tell her over the phone. Well tommorrow night is the nite. And damn I am scared. Afew years back I lost around 145lbs on weight watchers and I think it was hard for her being we have been heavy together all our lives. Almost like she pulled away from me a little. Well needless to say I gained all but about 30lbs back. Now I have to tell her tommorrow night about the surgery, I don't know what to expect. Just venting here sorry. You know I have major surgery a week from Monday and I am more scared about telling my dear friend. I am praying to God she will support me with all of her heart. She is a diabetic and I am hoping if I have a wonderful experience and change in my life for the better maybe she might want to consider the surgery also. Please pray things go well and wish me luck. Its Funny Cause I Just Recently Told My Best Friend And I Didnt Think She Would Of Been So Supportive As She Has Been But Her Dh Was Upset I Did This! Im Very Good Friends With Him Also. I Went To High School With Him.
They Are Coming Over On Sunday With Their Kids So I Actually Havent Seen Them Since The Surgery So I Hope He Doesnt Give Me A Hard Time. And If I Know My Girl Friend She Will Probably Drill Him Not To Bother Me B4 They Come Here. Lol HE WAS JUST UPSET THAT SOMTHING COULD OF HAPPENED TO ME.

It is rough when you have a close and dear friend with whom you've shared being heavy together. It' hard for a lot of the gals when their bestest girl doesn't also do the surgery.

Hoping that everything goes as well as expected! Even though we have a huge volume of support with family and especially this board, there is something about having your best friend along the ride with you. I actually had 2 of my best friends right there at the hospital with my husband and mom. Most want to see us succeed, while a lil envy lurks in the back ground. As you said, maybe this will make her look into herself more and change her ways. I wish you so much luck!

It is surprising who is for the surgery and who isn't There were a lot of people I thought I'd catch grief from and they were real supportive. I think the surgery is getting such a good reputation lately that people are changing their minds about it.
