Default Echogram???

Ugh - okay this is when I really appreciate you guys being here!

So my day was great - ONE week until surgery, had my pre op appt this morning and thought - heck this is gonna be great and smooth sailing. Well much to my surprise I went for my preop and they drew blood and did x-rays and then an EKG. Well the EKG didnt come out good, so they did another just to make sure. Apparently there is something showing that indicates I have scaring on my heart so I have to have an Echogram on Wednesday. YES two days before my surgery! I am scared shitless but my dr isnt worried, he thinks the way it is presenting itself is that it is MY heart rate and what not and just misleading us. Everything has come back good, blood, x-rays etc. My mom has a friend dr too so she called him right away and he said that I shouldnt get all worried. This is a common procedure and EKG's are often wrong when it comes to this and that is why the Echogram will be nice - it will show the truth. So please please please - keep me in your thoughts and prayers... I am soo scared. I just keep telling myself it will be okay and that it is probably just wrong - so hopefully I am telling myself the truth!

BTW - has anyone had an echo?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hi Emily, I am sorry you have to have this extra worry so close to your surgery. It's best to have it because you want the surgeon to have the best possible picture of the state of your health. I am sure it is nothing to worry about, but it's best to have so you and the dr's can have peace of mind. I had an Echo and it does not hurt at all. You lay on a table and the machine takes pictures from every angle. You could acturally fall asleep while its being done. I think they do the pictures twice. You will be in my prayers

First of all be glad they found it. Second it dont hurt a bit. I had one done years ago when I complained of rapid heartbeat. Mine was just to much caffine from taking Asprin Free Excedrin. LOL !!!!!!

Ahhh, yeah, if you have rapid heart beat, then sometimes, the EkG looks like there's a blip somewhere. The echocardiogram is going to show how your heart is moving, don't stress over it, it's just to confirm that you'll do fine when anesthetized.

Keeping you in my prayers. I'm sure it has really scared you, but just look at it as another step to INSURE your safety and health during surgery. I had to have a stress test done, and that was NOT fun, but I did feel VERY comfortable with the fact that my Dr. wanted this done. It's more of a "reassurance" issue. Things will work out fine, I KNOW it!!!

Emily - My husband had a weird EKG also prior to his surgry 3 yrs ago - then did the Echo and was allowed to proceed with the surgery. I know all this is so overwhelming and hard not to worry but just put the results in the guy upstairs and know it will be ok. I had the Nuclear stress test so had that out of the way in May. The other tests I was required had me on edge 2 weeks before surgery and I kept expecting them to call and cancel but anytime I got that thought I would just turn it over to God and I will for sure keep you in my prayers.

To all of you - thank you for your support - honestly I was freaking at first but the more people I talk to the better I feel. I am just scared they will come back with something - I have always been healthy - no high blood pressure or cholesteol or anything so for something like this it just shocked me more then anything. But I do trust that god is watching over me. I am pleasd that my dr checked this though - I first thought "oh come on...." but it is a reassurance! Thanks again
