Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hate to tell you but No I think that is one thing the suregery won't fix. I got rid of a lot of daily meds but acid reflus still a big problem. I take protonix in the a.m. and then a pepcid before every meal. Sometimes tums after meals. Anyway that has been my experience. Hope it won't be yours though. Mattie

I had acid reflux before my surgery, sometimes so bad i would wake up in the middle of the night and . It must be different for everyone but i have not had to take nothing and i have not had any since my surgery. i talked to my nurse about a week ago and asked if i was supposed to take it and she said no. you should not have anymore problems with it.

I know when i was not as heavy i did not have acid reflux. As my weight went up, up, up. I got it. I think there are some people that just have it and i think there are some people that have it because they are heavy.

My doc said the same. Because the part of the stomach that makes acid no longer has an opening to go up, it can't reflux. I've been on meds for years but not once since surgery -- sorry Mattie - maybe whatever is causing yours will decrease with time? Doesnt it kinda make you wonder if all surgeries are really the same?

Basically, acid refulx should improve. However, if you've had it for a very long time, and the cardia, the border between the esopagus and stomach, has sustained damage and the muscles weakend over time, you may still have some reflux.
Also take into account that the improvement of reflux differs with the type of surgery.
With gastric sleeve, the probability of reflux is somewhat higher than other types.
