Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass |  Questions Pre-op And Post-op Hi all!!! I just had a couple of questions being that surgery is coming up so fast now  .......1. Is it normal to get really nervous and anxious before? I feel like I am a bundle of nerves. 2. I had a hysterectomy a few years back and take premarin for a hormone. Will I be able to swallow it after surgery? Or do I have to find an alternative? 3. I take trazadone and zoloft for anti-depressant/sleep medication at night time. Is there liquid forms of these meds?  Hope someone out there can give me some insight on this. 3 DAYS AND COUNTING FOR SYDSMOM!!!!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass  |  I just had mine on Sept 19th. Yes 99 percent of us got very nervous. Its normal. I was more excited than nervous so i was in that 1 %. LOL. They give me my meds in the hosptial the ones they felt I still needed. You should be able to swallow it. Your surgeon will be the one to decided that one. Does it come in a patch form now or not? That might be somthing to look into. As far as liquid forms of the meds you inquired about im not sure. I take Lexapro for anxiety and Synthroid for thyroid. I know they allowed me to continue to take these 2 days after surgery. In pill form. They will tell you how to space them between meals or with them. To be honest I have never felt a pill in my pouch yet and still hanvnt had trouble swallowing them. I just give them there own space and time to disolve. I hope this helped some. Pehaps someone who takes the same meds you do will be able to help you more than myself. Good luck ! |

| Super Moderator  | Roller coaster motions are quite normal. As for the meds, asking your pharmacist if you can crush them, or if there are alternate forms, is probably a good way to get an answer.

I found myself in that nesting mod...cleaining like no tomorrow, rearrangeing furniture ....i guess that was my way to hide my bundle of nerves. I am 2 years post op and honestly if a pill is too BIG this far out they get stuck. I was put on antibiotics in the ER during the summer and i had to have my regular doctor prescribe me it in liquid they just kept getting stuck and i would have to heeve them up...so everyone i will say is different. i had to crush my pain meds when i first came home from hospitol and for me that sucked. EVERY doctor has different guidelines. BUT i would be more concerned on the meds being a time release type med which might give u more issues then even swallowing we absorb differently and thats why birth control pills can be non effective post op. talk to your surgeon go over all that your on he is most experienced on these issues! GOOD LUCK
