Well So Far I've Been Dieting For Eight Days . Doing Well With What I Eat And Drink And I Excercise. So Far I've Lost 2lbs But My Concern Is There A Certain Amount That They 're Expecting Me To Lose In Eight Weeks Is There Anyone That Had To Lose A Certain Amount Before Surgery? I Know That Each Surgeon Is Differnet But I Just Wanted To Have Some Type Of Ideal.

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

My doctor has not required me to lose anything as well. I have just sent an email to my doctor asking if I should loose or do a liquid diet. I will let you know what his response is. I have actually gained since I last saw my doctor. I have been exercising and I am feeling discouraged. My surgery is December 4.

My insurance requires a care-managed preoperative program in which one must lose 5% of their weight. I know at one time it had to be over a 6-month period, but now I think it is as soon as you lose that 5%, you have all your other criteria met, and you prove to them that you are ready.

They also want a 2-year committment to follow up with their case-managed postoperative program.

I don't have a problem with it. It is not an inexpensive surgery and if they are going to invest in me by paying for it, I want to show them that I am committed and have as healthy of a postoperative course as I can so they can know that they have invested wisely. Besides, it makes it easier on me, supposedly, and easier for the surgeon, so it is a win/win/win situation all the way around.

I think that I lost a total of 7 lbs the whole two weeks that I was doing the liquid diet...but my surgeon was happy with any loss.

You will have to ask your Dr that question. Do you know if your insurance requires weight loss? If I was you personally I would ask the Drs office and find out with the insurance. Somtimes they work hand in hand.

My doctor requires EVERYONE to do a 2 week liquid diet of only 800 calories a day before surgery. For me, I'm expected to lose 9 pounds which can easily be done in those two weeks on that low of a caloric intake. It's all about reducing the size of your liver. Will I be complaining during those two weeks? Absolutely...but it'll make my surgery a hell of a lot safer. That's what matters most to me.
