Height: Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass |  Got My Date Thank you all for your support - really appreciated. I now have my op date  2nd Feb 2008Dont know if I have done the right thing - but I have told my work colleagues today. First told my manager in order to organise work rota. Then was on a roll - didnt really think about it just stood up and announced it. On the whole people were quite supportive, but didnt really say much - think I took them by suprise. Just hope I haven't put too much pressure on myself, now they know. |

I to shared with everyone the moment I knew I was ok'd for the surgery, I think I was just so happy I wanted everyone to know why. Some people will probably try to talk you out of WLS. Be prepared for that. But just tell them how much research you have done etc. Best of luck to you, February will be here before you know it. We'll save a seat for you on the losing side.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Good Luck, Glad you got your date. I am new here too. Glad I found this site. Everyone here has helped me with a lot of questions. I just got my date too. Actually around the second week of February, not sure of the actually date, but insurance and everything has been approved. I also, had told my supervisor and the HR people since I had to and was afraid to tell my co workers right now. But like you, all of a sudden, I am out there starting to tell some of them. Now they will all know, but this is a good thing. They will watch me, and I will work harder. I know they will understand when I can't eat something or if we are having a birthday lunch for one of us, they won't force me to eat something or go if I don't want to or can't. This is something good! I figured some may try to talk me out of it, so I wasn't going to tell them until after, but I already did and know that no one will talk me out of it. Good luck, lets keep in touch, we will be starting almost the same date. Gina

Speaking of negative, I had orginally decided to do the lapband, but during my 6 month dr diet I decided to do the lap rny. I did not tell many people, but family that did know was not too crazy with the decision I had made and were worried. While at the hospital the morning of my surgery I had nurses asking what I was there for and when I told them there response was, You are not that big, how did you qualify? You know I have fought weight all my life. I know me better than anyone. I have felt huge and unhealthy and I am just trying to make a difference in me. So any way...don't let them get you down. You are doing what you need to do for yourself and it is not about them. Ok...I'll get down from my soapbox now. |
