Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

The nurse told me that some places suggest liquid diets, and that you are so regimented after surgery that they do not require it. I would ask your nurse at the surgeon's office. I am sure they will be there to reassure you. Good luck with your surgery!

well it is always best to follow what your surgeon and dietician tell you to do...for me they had me on a really strict diet for 30 days b4 surgery, it was kinda like a atkins diet, it was to shink my liver so that their lap tools would be able to move it out of the way for the procedure, otherwise they can have problems if it is too heavy. if you wonder what you should be doing, contact them, they will let you know...good luck and congrats on haveing your big day!

Smile Thanks qt82699

My surgeon said i have an enlarged liver and said he would have his dietician call me and tell me what to eat but this surgery is happening very quickly my first visit with the doctor was 11 Dec 2007 and i was going to have a lap band but the Doctor convinced me I would be better off with the GBypass since its the holiday no one has called me back other than the hospital everyone is out of vacation so i am left to figure this out on my own. i dont want anything to stand in the way of my big day!

They are all different. Mine required nothing. Just nothing to eat or drink after midnite. Some require a month on liquid some require nothing. Im sure they will tell you somthing if not call em and ask honey. Best be safe than sorry. Congrats on your upcomming surgery.

I didn't have to do a special pre=op diet. My doc had me go to a specific clinic for my medical work up, they had the nutritionist and psych there -- does your doc use a specific nut? If they're out of the office for the holidays, how about asking your PCP?

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Congratulations on your date.
As for your pre op diet, every surgeon has his/her own program, so you need to go by it.
However, if you aren't getting any info due to the holidays, I suggest you eat in moderation, and in good balance. Don't binge, and don't go into the *Last Supper* mode, the I-need-to-eat-everything-that-is-within-my-sight/can-get-my-hands-on-because-I'll-never-be-able-to-eat-them-again mode. You'll be able to eat whatever again in the future when you've lost the excess weight, only in smaller amounts (called "in moderation") that befits your new body.

(((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.
