Hi Martha , First off Congratulations on your surgery and your recent weight loss! the keyword you used in your post was You are losing weight - its just slow .. for the lap band slow is healthier... I was a former band patient ... I recently had my band removed because my weight loss went from slow to stall - it didnt get rid of my hunger and I found that I was able to eat pass the banding quite easily . Not to discourage you - This is just my story though . On the other hand My cousin has the band in her tummy now and she is doing fine - whenever she gets an urge to eat more -she goes in for an adjustment and eats less .her weight loss is also slow but she is still losing . and so are you - so stay encouraged.. . now the weight loss may be slow due to 3 main factors (1) what types of foods are you eating ? With the lap band you still can eat whatever you want in terms of fatty , sweet and high calorie foods - which will slow down progress--keep in mind your body is still absorbing every calorie you take in since it is not bypassing anything.. (2) your band might need to be adjusted (3) works outs are highly important - when I started out with the band after completing the pre op diet I ate lost of lean meats such as Fish , chicken and turkey with veggies - As rule of thumb try to stayed away from anything white ( White rice , flour , Sugar etc., ) .. If you are not already doing so - begin to read the labels on the type of foods you are buying ... reading labels can be a great help . ALso stay away from High calorie beverages such as juices and alcohol ... I hope some of this info helps ...
I am sure you will do just fine ! you have plenty of people here to support you and help you stay on track ! I hope the band works for you and you reach your desired healthy goal !
Keep up the great work at losing weight You can do it !! I am rooting for ya !
