BTW...

I had 4 strictures...and they can still happen further out too. Mine I had to go back every 2 weeks and then they finally stopped .

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Paula,
I don't know anything about the amino acid pills you keep mentioning but I'm a bit concerned. First, does your surgeon know that you are relying on these for your protien source, and second how much protien are these providing each time you take one? We can only absorb 25 grams of protien at one time, all the rest is just wasted.

YOu don't mention any milk products. Are you lactose intolerant? When I was at your stage I used LF milk mixed with carnation instant breakfast and added Unjury protien powder and blended with ice cubes to make a smoothie that was high in protien. I couldn't stand the shakes either.

If your surgeon is telling you that you aren't "eating right" then ask him to send you to a nutritionist who knows about WLS patients and can help you learn to eat right.

Personally, it still sounds like another stricture to me, but if he's not willing to consider that, then try to find out what foods you can eat that aren't going to make you sick. Grrrrr, I'd like to have a word with your surgeon.

PS: I agree you should not be eating salads yet, but beans were another mainstay for me. I had a lot of trouble with eggs, but cottage cheese went down well. Are you blenderizing your meats? Try adding chicken broth to them to make it extra moist. Dry meats will definately not go well in the pouch. Broiled white fish is also something high in protien and the pouch usually likes it. Good luck, keep us posted!

i have been reading and just wanted to add some words of encouragement and support. please get a second opnion. what your surgeon is suggesting doesnt make sense. i am NOT a dr or an expert BUT i do know SOMETHING is wrong here. before you get sick please please consult someone else. i really hope things start to look up for you.
PS. healthfood store people only want the sale. if your dr didnt recommend the supps they are trying to sell you, dnt buy them. you may not be absorbing them. i think there is a thread on here as to the specific type of protein supps we can take and absorp. you may want to check that out.

hang in there

The amino acid may be what is making you so sick. For the first 3 wks after my surgery I had to drink 3 8oz. glasses of low fat milk a day. this provided me with protein. I agree with the second opinion, what your experiencing doesnt sound right. Start drinking some milk at least, and maybe stop taking the supplement. see if that helps any. chicken noodle soup (i mashed up the noodles and added a couple crackers) helped me alot.

Good luck, keep us posted. Hope you feel better soon.

Thats great that you are feeling better and venturing out on new foods! One day at a time and TRIAL AND ERROR is what it is all about. I hope that things continue to look up for you!

Miss Paula....glad to hear you had a better day. Stick with the skim milk 3 x's a day for awhile. At least you put some protein into your body. stay away from things that are heavy for right now. ( aka...manwich, lol its all trial and error ) cottage cheese is a great thing and so is yogurt. adding even alittle protein powder to the yogurt (if you can handle it) will also help. Good luck and let us know how your doing.
This is a great place for support...........

Now, that's a major dis-communication that is unforgivable
Have you been upfront with both that they are saying opposite things and therefore you are confused? Better let both know what's going on, you probably aren't the only one who's confused.

Glad to know you are find some things that agree with you.

Also...don't forget to eat slow and chew well. I stay far away from eggs...those make me sick everytime as well as ground beef. I find that I don't chew either of those foods well and don't like the texture of them when I have to over chew so I end up swollowing early and getting a stomach ache. Try light foods and make sure your veggies are cooked and cooked well. I am sorry you are going through this but thats all the advice I have.
