Hello and welcome to the board. This is a good place to find out a lot of information from people who have been there and done that. I was also a stress eater, boredom eater, habit eater all that stuff. I knew I had to do something so I chose the RYN. I had a few complications at first. But I do not regret it at all. The first few weeks after surgery I had "head hunger" but after that it all went away. Honesty I have to remind myself to eat sometimes. By the way, I have never had the nausea associated with something I ate. And am not even sure if the complications I had have anything to do with the surgery. Keep doing your research. Good Luck with whatever decision you make.

Welcome to the boards. Ask all the questions you may have. We are here for you. Immediately post-op they give you medicines for nausea. I have had nausea maybe 4 times since coming home from the hospital, 8.5 months ago. I had no nausea in the hospital. I am very happy with my results, but you can make your decision only by researching and hearing all the goods and bads. Good luck on your quest!

I also had a lot of the same health issues. I was a huge stress eater as well!! Now I find I have to remind myself to eat!! Have had no desire to eat even during the stressful times!!! Loving that!!! You are right, 90 pounds is not a lot to lose if you have the willpower to do it. I could never have done that on my own, so am greatful for the surgery!! Been a fantastic tool to get me closer to where I wanna be. Feel so much better, looking better, and have more energy than I know what to do with at times!! Good luck in whatever decision you make!!!!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I would think your doc would be the best to help you decide. I knew I would cheat with the lap band so that's why I didn't take that route. Everyone reacts differently to the rny so there's no way to know how well you will or won't do. I guess my best advice, no matter which you choose, is to do your homework on the surgeon ~ that seems to be one of the most important things. Also, as you go through the process, you'll see a psych for clearance. You may want to see them now as you're working thru all this stuff so that you'll have a better chance of success postop. This is a physical journey for sure, but really some of our most important work is head work. Good Luck - glad you've joined us! |

U will see that everybody is different I would suggest lots of research. I finally decided on this surgery and overall I'm so happy that I went this route. I'm never sick the only diffenrce is I can't eat as much (not even close). I try to make better food choices. Good luck in what ever u decide to do and remember to do your research.

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us. (((((((HUGS)))))))) May your journey go well. Do as much search and research as you can, read all the bad as well as all the good, you can never know enough, and knowledge is power. You are the only person who can decide for yourself. As for all the medication you are taking, you may find that your symptoms have improved with the weight loss, and you won't need some of them any more., so talk to your surgeon and the drs who prescribe them to you, and as many questions as you feel the need to.

I don't think that vomiting is the norm. Most of us only did it once or twice before we learned not to eat too fast or too much. I do get nausea if I eat high fat and I'm grateful every time it happens because it makes me stop eating and that's exactly what I need. I too was only 100 pounds overweight, and had indeed lost 65 pounds twice, only to gain it back. I came to realize that I was never going to keep it off without some help. But it's your decision. If you go this route, you need to be committed to eathing healthy for the rest of your life. Think about it - that's a long time! I think we all hit that realization somewhere along the journey when we're getting sick and tired of the same old foods and the pouch won't let us backslide, and it dawns on us that this is the way it's going to be forever more. And then we accept it and move on, but that's one of the biggest hurdles on this road. Complications? None. Had the surgery, was up walking about the same day. On the other hand, the woman in the bed beside me was constantly vomiting and had to have medication to stop it. There's no guarantee which way it will go. |

Barbie is right - there's no telling how you'll respond to the surgery. I've only had problems with nausea a few times. Protein shakes in the evening did not agree with me and I ate too much a twice. The nausea makes you learn quickly what not to do! Sometimes the pain meds in the hospital don't agree with you but I didn't have a problem at all. No vomiting at all (yet). You have to decide what your acceptable risk level is. I think the nausea is only a problem for a short time. From what I've read most people don't have a problem with it after a few weeks - as long as you follow all the rules!! The only med I couldn't take after surgery was lisinopril, but my blood pressue is already normal without it! Ask your surgeon about all your meds. Good luck!! |
