I know everyone is different but I am just trying to get an idea of what to expect. I have a few questions to ask. I have heard some of the answers from lap RNY people but was just wondering how different the answers were for the OPEN RNY people...I am going to have OPEN..so I am a little nervous. How large are your incision scars? How long did you have pain? How long did you take pain meds after coming home from hospital? How as your mobility with the incision, were you very sore and how long? Thanks alot for your answers.

hi... i had open surgery in july, the scar is just under my breastbone to just over my belly button, but has faded well..... i haven't needed any pain relief since coming home, but have still got an open wound about 4cm in length but am assured this is not common, i guess i'm just unlucky. it was sore for a while but not painful, and you will find you cannot bend or sleep lying down for a couple of weeks but it does get easier.....good luck and dont worry, i certainly do not regret the op..
