Default Got my first stricture and I HATE CLOTHES SHOPPING!

So I'm going tomorrow for an endoscopy (thankfully my surgeon does it right there in his office) because he's pretty sure I have a stricture. I know it's not a big deal but it's been so hard and a little depressing. I've lost 38 lbs in 6 wks and it feels like I'm literally starving to death. I sip my water all day long, I sip my protein drinks but the foods I can keep down are so limited and I can only take 2 little spoonfuls (and I use baby spoons) of the foods I can eat. Can anybody tell me how they felt after they had their dilitation? Did you feel a difference right away? Were you able to eat right away?

Now, getting back to my weight loss - yeah, I've lost 38 lbs. and I'm really happy about that. All my clothes are getting way too big so I went to buy pants tonight and it doesn't seem like I've gone down much in size. WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON. I've always hated shopping for the obvious reasons but this is so discouraging.

I need all the support and advice I can get right now. I'm a little down.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Lana first of all im sorry they think you have a stricture. I have never had one done in the office so I do hope that goes well with you. I have always had mine done out patient and then yes I can eat and drink like normal. I just sleep the rest of the day to get over the anesthesia.

The scale thing Your losing weight so you wont notice alot of differene in your clotheing yet. It will come however. You have to remember to us at our largest im sure we stretched out our clothes as far as they could go. That might be part of it. Yes you have done very well. You need to remember this when you hit a stall. You losing inches not pounds and that is a great thing indeed. So things will be ok. Remember to buy light when clothes shopping because you will not stay in the size long what so ever. If you have to buy new ones or choose that route make it a classice look so you can mix and match them well because your gonna waster money if you dont. Its time to change all that up later and buy a bit more and more your own style then. Let us know how you do OK?

I wish you luck at your appointment. I am sure doing it in the office will make it easier and more comfortable.

I am sorry you are not feeling well though. That sucks. I hate clothes shopping too. So I can certainly relate. I am sure things will be better soon. Hang in there.

On a side note....Is that a Shiba pup in your picture? Are you on any Shiba lists? I have a shiba too! Her name is Kumiko and up until recently was in training to be a service dog. Hugs!

Lana, I've had a dozen or more dilatations of my esophagus where it meets the old stomach in the years prior to surgery. I've had them out-patient with the put-him-under happy juice in the IV, and I've had them sitting on the examination table, and everywhere in between. Either way, you should be able to eat soon after.

Only time I had a problem was when we stopped to get some lunch before we hit the road going home. Learned that you probably ought not to try Mexican right after this procedure. After the waiter picked me off the floor, the manager gave us the lunch free to get us out of there fast!! I think I scared some people during the lunch rush, and they probably thought I was knocked out by the food!!

Good luck. Remember to say "AAAAaaaahhhhhh"!!!

Ouch on the stricture.
Clothes shopping will become fun soon enough. Right now, your body probably is kinda *shtuck* due to the stricture. Once it's resolve, a lot of things probably are going to get rolling along, too.

definitely 'shtuck' as doc says! That's what happened with me very early on starting at day 21 and my several repeats of strictures at the stoma opening. You will feel SO much better after that gets opened. Plus once you can get some actual food going and do things you will see more weight come off.

That's my little Kali - yep she's a Shiba Inu......She's the best. What kind of list do you mean? A service dog? Is she fully trained?
