Angry Ulcers & De-hydration

So today is my five week anniversary and here I sit, home from my THIRD hospital visit for dehydration. I'm currently taking carafate and have just been put on zenegrid to try to get my 'little' ulcer under control. Yes, the dr. who did the scope said the ulcer was 'little' and would be gone within a week. Ha Ha, it's week four of this 'little' ulcer and it is responsible for every stinking complication I've had thus far.

I've had horrible nausea and overall feel very weak and faint. The dr. said my nausea was the result of low potassium from getting hydrated, so they have included vitamins, minerals and potassium in the IV fluids. They also gave me a prescription for potassium and that's the one thing that makes me puke (both liquid and capsule).

Yesterday, the dr. gave me a refill of pain meds and also added a prescription of phenigrin to help with the nausea. Today is the first day with the phenigrin and I was able to get some much needed sleep and actually take a whole shower by myself!! GLORIOUS!!

I'm wondering if any of you have had similar issus w/ dehydration due to an ulcer and how you were able to conquer it? Until the ulcer heals, I will be talking to the dr. about developing some sort of scheduled re-hydration plan. Have any of you ever had a home health nurse that helped you get re-hydrated? I'd love to know if any of you have any suggestions/recommendations!!

P.S. I lost 20 lbs in week 1 and then 8 lbs in the four weeks since. Everytime I think I've lost weight, I get re-hydrated and it all comes back!!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Sorry to hear that you are having a rough time of it Terah. An ulcer on top of dehydration sounds hard to deal with. Hopefully all that bad stuff will pass soon and you can continue on your journey smoothly. I will be thinking of you!

Aw (((HUGS)))
Have you been tested for H.pylori? If not, you may need to be, H.pylori causes ulcers, so asking.

I've been going through the same thing for over a month. I even had a feeding tube for 2 1/2 weeks. Nothing much seems to help. They tested for h pylori & cancer and found nothing. I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever fell well again. Did they tell you if the ulcer is at the top or bottom of your stomach? Somebody told me they heal slower at the bottom. All we can do is keep sipping, take our meds & pray for some relief. Please keep us posted.
