glad i found this thread. it's what i had been searching for. i'm new to the board/group and had my surgery July 20th. i lost 21# the first week then 5 more since. the last several days i have gained 1 1/2# and was starting to freak out a little. now, i know i can't lose 20# a week, but was hoping for 2-3 a week. i guess i just need reassurance that it was normal while everything is healing inside to take a little more time or have my weight fluctuate a bit. i'm sure it will throughout my WL journey.
I'm very glad i found this site to post, ask questions and find out answers from people who have already been there and done that.
i was very happy to read all of your answers to the question.... i will sleep easier and stop weighing myself so much!!

Welcome to the group!! RR has the best people around and they are so willing to share their experiences all you have to do is ask or query to find answers.
I am amazed that you lost so much in the first week, I only lost 4 pounds on the 2 week liquid diet and 4 pounds the week after surgery. Almost 2 weeks out and I am down a total of 7 pounds since surgery so I am definitely a slow loser, and that is with no calories to speak of for the first 10 days.
Keep with the plan your surgeon has laid out and this will work, the weight does not come off evenly and there will be stalls, even early out. Make sure you are getting enough water and food in and getting your walking in and the weight will start dropping again, but after a loss of over 20 pounds in a week you body is probably doing some shifting and you most likely are losing inches now and will have a big jump when it drops again.
Good luck on your journey and happy that you chose to join us!!

Hello and Welcome,
Just keep following the plan and your body will do the rest, I think most of us had that doubt that we had done something wrong, or that perhaps it just wouldn't work for us, but the truth is follow pouch rules and the results will follow, so hold in there!!!!

After reading all the remarks , I am thinking about not getting any scales for the first few months. I have an old pair of scales that are off 15 pds from the Dr's office. I was at Wal-mart yesterday looking at one that has BMI , fat % , bone density. The cost of them was $27.00-$30.00. I might just put them on my Christmas list. I just don't know about spending that much on scales.

Brenda Lea, I have a scale that computes bmi, hydration and bone density and it is really nice, it gives me something besides the weight to measure my progress by.
Although I haven't lost as much as many during my pre-op diet or the 2 weeks since my surgery, I have noticed the BMI go down and my hydration level go up, not any extremes, but higher than I was able to get the hydration level before surgery even though I am drinking less than before surgery.
Just my take on the BMI scales.
