Default stopped losing weight..help!!

I had surgery almost 3 weeks ago and lost 22 pounds in the first week and a half. Now for the past week I have not lost anything. I have increased my protein and I am now drinking more water and the scale is tipping back and forth one pound. What do I need to do to start losing again.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Welcome to our group First of all how many times have you ever lost that much weight in 3 weeks ? 2nd of all you just had major surgery and your healing...3rd of all after WLS you will find you will drop weight and then stall for a few weeks, heck I didnt even lose any weight for 3 weeks and gained 20 lbs in hospital to boot UGH, also during your stalls you will notice you are lsoing inches, did you measure yourself yet ?....So dont stress all stress does is cause you to stall longer...do as your told , walk walk walk sip sip sip and make sure you eat protien first ( if your eating yet ) and to drink 30 minutes prior or 30 minutes after your meals, dont drink during, you will do just fine, remember you didnt gain this weight over night you wont lose it over night either....Also think about this most of us done this surgery to regain health the weight loss is a bonus...good luck and keep us posted, hugs, Annie~

You are not doing anything wrong. If you lost 22 lbs. in the first 10 days, that is just about 2lbs a day. Your body just had major surgery, is trying to heal from that, and is also trying to figure out what just happened to it. Don't worry, just keep doing what you are doing and you will be fine. Follow the doctor's instructions.

I haven't had my surgery yet, but I do know the scale can be dangerous. I plan on moving my scale to a different bathroom when I have my surgery, out of sight - out of mind and hopefully I can stay off of it between Drs. visits. Even if I don't, I will have to make a conscious effort to check my weight.

Ms.Vickie is a strong proponent of not weighing yourself often.

Ok take a deep breath .. your poor body has been to hell & back. 22 lbs is a huge amount to lose in that time frame. It took years to put it on and it could take up to 2 years to take I off. 1 - 2 lbs a week is average. Your just at the right time frame for your first stall. You are doing the right things. We all went through this.

Walk away from the scale. I know it is hard to do. I was a daily weigher (be careful MsVickie is going to come to your house & take your scale away from you)! But now I weigh once or twice a week. I was force to stop weighing daily a couple of months ago when my scale broke & I could not afford to replace it. Then my sweet hubby bought me one as a surprise. Going without for such a long time made me realize I could use other means to gauge my progress. My clothes & keeping track of my measurements.

I promise if you stick to the rules you will lose. Many surgeons consider you a success if you lose 60% of your excess weight. I know you are going to prove them wrong! I did it and so can you. I am 29 lbs below my goal weight.

If I can find it I will post a link to a thread I started a long time ago showing the average weight lose by wls patients month to month.

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Congratulations on joining the Losers' Bench and on your wonderful weight loss.
(((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.

You're quite normal and doing well. Your body is still reeling and healing from the major surgery you had a few weeks ago. Eeven if your surface incisions have closed, it is still healing inside and adjusting and aligning all the functions, so healing of the order of the day yet, not losing. Plus, you will lose in humps and bumps, not in one smooth fell swoop, and the first bump comes right around where you are.

Last but not least, if you really constantly went on losing 22lbs in a week and a half, that means you'll lose 44lbs in 3 weeks, 176lbs in 3 months!!! Do you really expect to lose that fast? Do you really want to lose that fast? I mean, at that rate, you will be 262-176=86lbs come the end of September. Really, really sorry, but if you kept on losing like that, it will be totally unhealthy, and you will look totally unhealthy. The weight loss should average out to 8-10lbs per month the first year, and even at that, that means 96-120lbs in the first year.

Doc loved the way you put that in your post. I think many folks forget that the smaller they get, the slower the weight loss can go...Also because one person loses 30 lbs a month, doesn't mean someone else will. Often those who have the MOST to lose (Super Morbidly Obese...400+ lbs) often lose faster than those only 250. Because they have more to lose.
Warmly,
Jackie
