Unhappy I'm so depressed!!

Hi,
I'm new to this forum but I'm really hoping someone can tell me things will get better. I had my Gastric Bypass May 25th so i'm about two and half weeks out but I feel awful!! I thought I would be feeling better by now but I'm so nauseaous it's unbearable. I can't stand it anymore I barely can take my vitamins and fluids and taking my protein shakes is like a punishment. I've already lost 25 pounds but at this point I don't even know if this is worth it. I'm having a lot of anxiety that I'm going to feel like this forever. I called the surgeon and they raised my B vitamins but it hasn't helped at all if anything I feel worse. Please tell me this is normal and that it will get better. I can barely function much less take care of my kids my house or do any normal activity. Sorry for being such a downer but I'm miserable.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

hang in there sweety, it will get better! Your body has been through a lot and it takes time. I went through the same thing. They say your body stores hormones in the fat that is stored and when we start losing, these hormones are being released in abundance which causes us to be on an emotional rollercoaster as well as going through all the mind stuff and feeling deprived of the things we love. You will soon start feeling better

((((Hug)))) It will get better. It just takes time. If you don't get better call your doctor back and see if he will give you something for nausea. Have you tried warm or room temp. liquids? Some say that helps. We are glad you found us and stick around maybe we can be of help to you. Hang in there better days coming. dixie

Wish I had some soothing words of advice. I have read others having similar complaints... check back with your doc. I think some have been given specific medicine for the nausea. Hang in there, can you recruit some help for the kids until you are feeling better? Maybe a relative or friend could pitch in for a few hours a day? Sure hope you are feeling better VERY soon.

Welcome tto the board, thank you for joining us.
Congratulations on joining the Losers' Bench.
(((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.

Sorry to hear of your post op woes. Are you sure that you are getting in enough fluids? Dehydration can cause nausea and depression, and it's so very easy to get dehydrated. Continue to nag your surgeon if this keeps up, too, so early out, you need a lot of TLC.

Post op "blues" are very common. It is normal. Just keep walking and keep sipping. Back off anything new, by mouth, and take it very slowly. Your guts are still healing inside. Worse, you will probably stop losing weight for a couple weeks, which is ALSO totally normal. It has nothing to do with what you are eating or drinking or how much you are moving. It is just your body shutting down for a little while.

And what the others said.

I just had a flash back after reading your post...in those first few weeks I wondered what the heck I had gotten myself into...I think some call it "buyers remorse". The nausea didn't last that long for me, but for a while the house smelled bad, liquids made me cringe...that is all I could have for the first two weeks. The idea of food scared me....

It does get better. Still, check with your surgeon. Follow the lovely rules. Make sure you get your fluids and protein in (as well as vitamins). Sometimes there can be a stricture or even ulcer developing.

Best of luck. Please keep us posted on your progress!

Thanks everyone for your comments, I'm so glad I found this site. I'm definitely going to take the advice and call my surgeon tomorrow and beg him for some nausea medicine! Thankfully I do have my mom staying with me and she's a big help. I have a But4 year old and a 19month old and it's really hard for them to understand why mommy can't do the normal things I usually do with them. I keep telling myself I'm mainly doing this for them so I can be healthy, teach them to be healthy and grow old and see my grandbabies. But this is soooo much rougher than I expected. Thank you everyone for your support it means a lot.
