Default Nearly 3yr Surgiversay

Hello Old and new friends,

I know its been ages, but life is never quiet for me, althou I have been alot better over the past 6 months, my teeth have taken a bashing, I have had to have x8 teeth dug out and removed, as they had broken and crumbled the only reason we can find for this vast deteration is due to my previous year or so of ill health, either ways the damage has been done and my dentist is in the process of trying to save the few teeth i have left, I am having some dentures made, which will help with chewing!!!
Anyway, I am nearing 3yrs post op, well it was not at all plain sailing but I am still at a healthier weight, my energy levels still are limited, but I manage, I am hoping that I will still continue to get better, but I am fearful that this is now my lot!

I still continue to encourage and help others by running x2 support groups per month, but I have my self doubts at times, due to the complications etc I have been left with lots of scar tissue lying on the nerves in my stomach, now if I lift anything too heavy like a loaded washing basket, a heavy shopping bag, I suffer for it afterwards, and end up having to take lots of strong pain meds, before my Bypass surgery, I was always on the go, I could move wardrobes full of clothes on my own, but now I am linited or else??? sorry to be negative but its where I am now, I hope you dont mind me being open and honest about how I feel..... I dont share this at my groups, as I want to be an encourager, but I do tell people that by having surgery is not always plain sailing..

Anyway sorry for the negative bit,

Happy New Year to everyone

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Welcome home, Angie!! Sorry to hear about your long-term effects, but glad to hear you're trying to keep the old stiff upper lip you folks are so famous for!

Wow! Three years already? Sure doesn't seem like it, does it? I was thinking about you the other day when someone was grumbling about having her third stricture fixed. She seems to be doing well now, though.

Take care, sister!

Hi Angie, I think I'm the one CT's talking about grumbling! He shared your name and I read several of your posts about your numerous dilations. I've had 7 or 8 (lost track of how many) in last 2 1/2 months. I think this last one has stuck though! I could surely identify with the your posts and though I'm sorry you've had to go through so much, I don't feel so alone anymore.
Was it the many dilations that left you with more scar tissue?
I'm really sorry to hear about your teeth but am glad you are feeling better. Was it not being able to get your supplements in that caused your teeth problem? Sorry so many questions but I could so identify with your issues. I had blood work drawn last week and am a little worried about my checkup to go over the results next week.
I'm so glad you are posting again.... I don't call it negativity or grumbling... I call it being truthful about where you are! Hugs

Sooo glad to hear from you, I've been wondering how you are doing.
Sorry to hear that you are still suffering. While for the majority, the journey is relatively smooth sailing, a few people do have it pretty rough.
Is there anything your surgeon can do about your scar tissues? Remove it in the future to resolve the issue? Breechick (though she hasn't been on in over a year) had a lot of scar tissues, as the result of injuries unrelated to WLS, had it removed and seemed to be doing much better at the time.
I am keeping you in my prayers that your health improves, even if it's a slow progress.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes, Judi most of the scar tissue was from the initial surgery, and I had x11 dilatations, and also I had another surgery due to me having a piece of bowel being trapped up on my bypass site, so I had to have that removed. I think the teeth thing has to be due to not getting enough food / supplements in, as I was so poorly in 2010 I spent 3 months in hospital. I hope and pray that your Journey goes a lot smoother now honey....

Doc, I am due to see my consultant at the hospital soon, so I will be asking about what my options are?
Hugs everyone
