Default Pre-surgery, high protein liquid diet

I am trying to endure the 2 week, high protein, liquid diet that is required by my surgeon before he performs surgery.

My question is this: What is the difference in my eating my protein or whether I drink my protein. The solid protein is low-fat and similar in calories, what difference does it make?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I think that the difference is that it also 'cleans' out your system and prepares it for the liquids you'll get post-op. I know that I had a 6 week liquid pre-op diet AND a bowel prep, but it was no big deal because there was nothing left, lol!!! Good luck!!! You're almost there!

good question... I start my 1 week liquid diet (high protein shakes and broth, jello) tomorrow. I do it for 5 days, on day 6 I can't have any protein, just clear liquids. I know they want the high protein to aid healing and they probably don't want any build up in the intestines either, since they're going to fill my midsection with gas, they must figure I don't need any more bloat!!

i know they want your liver to shrink downs some, just for more room to work. I wasnt put on any protein diet just a clear liquid diet the day before surgery, wish I was though, you kick start the weight loss for one, and you know what you are in for when you are on liquids after surgery.

im not sure what the difference is, i wasnt on that kind of a diet but it may have something to do with shrinking your liver?

All surgeons differ but mine had me do protien liquid for 2 weeks and he said it was to shrink the liver and make the other organs so they can move them around easily it helps them to do what they need to do with ease.
