| Hi everyone me again, Have just been wondering about excess skin. With all the weight that I am hopefully going to lose what happens to the skin (am particularly thinking tops of arms, tummy, thighs etc. Do people go on to have nips and tucks or what? Am hoping that as I am still reasonably young there is still some elasticity left and some of it will pop back to where it once was but you never know. If you are someone who has lost a lot of weight how did you deal with this - I would be really interested to know thanx Last edited by ayam86 : 02-13-2008 at 09:50 AM. Reason: Addition |

| I was just talking to my sister about my skin. I'm already beginning to look like an old woman, I the bad thing is that I work out at the gym 4-5 times a week. What's up with that?

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | this has been posted a couple times before...it always helps to exercize and lift weights...im not saying this will take care of all but it sure does help! also i had asked my doc about this and he said that alot of the skin will firm over time, alot of ppl dont relize that we lose so fast and it takes the skin longer to adjust. he said i will probably need the tummy done, if i want but patience is the best, give it time and see where you are!!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I already have plans to tummy tuck and upper arm tuck. Some people dont need any tucks, the skin goes back, but it all depends on where you gained most and if the skin was stretched too much. My cousin had GBS before I did and lost about the same I am hoping to and she never had any stretched skin, she is a few years younger than me, and she carried her weight in different places than me.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I'm pretty happy with how my skin is going back, my arms are kind of flappy but not too bad I just started to go to the gym.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | depends on your age and your skin pigment...and whether or not the skin has ever stretched (my stomach has stretch marks from 2 pregnancies and no matter how much I work out, it ain't EVER going back). I plan on a tummy tuck, brachioplasty (arm lift) possibly thigh/breast/tush lifts...I have even contemplated the full body lift...but they are expensive...I just don't wanna have 17 more surgeries...so who knows....I'm interviewing plastic surgeons now....but I have to wait to reach goal, then maintain for 6 months before I do ANYTHING. (it will be the end of this year or next year)...... I do know...I look great with clothes on....naked me scares the daylights outta me LOL!! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | This is something that is difficult to predict. My skin is doing a lot better than I expected. I have about 30 lbs more to go and so far it looks like I won't need any surgery. Tonya |
