oh yeah...everyone does it! Our surgeon's nurse practioner suggested that we TRY not to do this as it causes a sudden gain in weight. But we also did not have to lose anything prior to surgery.
The funny thing now is that I realize a lot of the stuff I thought I was saying goodbye to was things I can and still eat...
for me I figured though...I'd eaten enough sugar, doughnuts, candies etc for many many lifetimes..lol..2 nibbles anymore and i be DONE!

It's called the Last Supper Syndrome
Actually, as BreeChick says, there isn't anything you won't be *allowed* to eat post op, it's just that your pouch may dislike some foods, and also, for a month to 2 months post op, there will be limits due to the fact that your pouch is still healing.

I actually lost weight pre-op....it was like...I REALLY WANT TO EAT THIS...but then again, you get the instant realization of "why bother, it's just going to be something else to lose afterward" I went to FUDDRUCKERS and had the biggest cheeseburger you've ever seen....it was delicious....

I didn't get crazy, for a good 2 weeks before surgery, and I'm glad, because 1) I didn't gain any more, and 2) the day before surgery you have to drink that stuff that cleans out your colon (forget what it's called - sucks big time) but everyone had warned "you'll be on the pot all day!", I wasn't because I hadn't gone crazy with food, was glad for that. So anyway, don't do it. Have what you like, go out for a nice meal here and there, but don't stuff just to stuff. Like Doc said, you WILL be able to eat anything/everything again at some point. Good luck!

Yes, I did it and, like BreeChick said, I find that I can eat those same foods now, just not in big quantities. So I wish I handn't done it. Sigh.

lol...*grin* it is funny but we do still turn to food at time and there are those days I just feel defiant!! I want that damned m&m's peanut...the diff now is that I eat like 6..lol and that is WAYYY more than enough to get me sick..so why do I try it? goodness knows!
but day to day I don't eat sugar, I don't eat fruit..don't, frankly eat much on the veg end...dairy, meat, carb/complex if possible! coffee and nuts! if I "cheat" it's on the salty carby side not sweets.
go figure.!

I tried the "last supper" thing, and after eating a VLCD for 6 weeks, eating all that food made me sick and miserable. I couldn't finish my dinner of burger and fries...it made me sick looking at it!
it reminded me that stuffing my face with food made me feel terribl and that I NEVER want to go back to that again.
