Default Have been ill - now stomach has shrunk!

Hello all,

Sorry I haven't posted in a while - my whole family has been under the weather. I was eating along happily until I got sick and it feels like I've re-shrunk my pouch. I'm back to yogurt, protein shakes, bananas, and peanut butter. I'm eight months out and have lost over 100 pounds. It's true I want to lose more, but I like to control what I'm losing (sound wierd?) I don't want to lose too quickly, but it's falling off right now - I guess I shouldn't complain!

I found an interesting magazine article in Woman's Day (Mar 2008 pg. 132) that says the right foods for weight loss (non-op) are:
unlimited fruits and veggies plus 10 "super-foods" which are yogurt, blueberries, pumpkin, soy, oats, salmon, beans, walnuts, tea, oranges, tomatoes, broccoli, turkey and spinach.

Does anyone have a comment on that list? I do eat quite a few of them, I must admit, but can't eat an 'unlimited' amount of fruits and veggies a day without missing out on protein!

I have an appointment at Gold's Gym on Monday to establish a regular workout routine. Good thing, because in the past two weeks while ill, I haven't been able to exercise.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Glad you're starting to feel better ~ have fun at the gym

As for super foods - I think they're just really good for you foods. If we focus on protein but surround the protein with healthy choices, so much the better.

So sorry that you and your family have been ill, but it sounds like things are turning around and your feeling better. Wish I could help and answer a question or two, but since I've not experienced the "pouch" yet, all I can say is have fun at the gym and maybe a trainer there can help you out too.

ugh, sorry you've all been sick. Hopefully everyone will be well soon.

As for the "super foods", a lot of them are high antioxidant blends, high omega 3 and 6, high in protein....so my thought is they are picking the richest, foods in each catagory that have the best benifits??? Just a guess.

Hope you will be back up to speed. (((((HUGS)))))
As for the list, they are *good* food, but unlimited? Anything unlimited can turn bad.

Glad to hear you are on the mend. As for the foods, Doc is right, we still need moderation with good foods too. Personally, I am addicted to green tea right now, I have at least 40 oz. a day!!!Yikes!!! And I have recently bought white tea, the box claims it may be even better for us than green tea. And I noticed oranges on the list, I have had 1 orange a day since the flu and the other things have started going around and I have a sneaky suspicion that is why I have not caught anything yet, hhmmmm... The others are great protein and fiber, which we all need protein now, and fiber is a benefit to those of us that are having a difficult time with the BM's since surgery.
