Default Tell me what you brought to the hospital

What did you bring to the hospital? What did you WISH you had brought to the hospital? The only bag I know how to pack for the hospital is one for childbirth....and I don't anticipate walking out of the hospital with a baby!!

I am going to pack:

My own nightgown, they make me feel better then the hospital gowns
socks
chapstick- this has already been recommended to me!
shower stuff, they said I could shower the next day
clothes to wear home

anything else?

oh and anything special to have at home right away???

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Good luck to you.

Bring some hand lotion also. I like to read so I brought a book and a couple of photos of my family and boyfriend.

Take care

The most important thing that I brought (other than chapstick) was a backscratcher. It was difficult to move around in bed, and my legs were very itchy (I don't know why)... so I used my scratcher a LOT. I just got a cheap bamboo one from the dollar store. Good luck!!!

my papers said i could shower too, but they never let me. I had a hard time sleeping the nite i was there, the bed was so uncomfortable, watched tv, wished i had something to read. i brought my favorite pj's to wear home when i left, so glad i had them.
As for home, you will need a good thermometer. cant think of anything else right now.

I brought chapstick, loose clothes to wear home, a pillow to hold against my belly for the ride home, crocs (you know, those slip on shoes) for walking in the hospital after surgery, tooth brush, tooth paste, hair brush and a scrunchi to keep my hair up, socks for cold feet, a book I was reading. I was told not to bring pj's because they want you in their gowns so that they can see you incisions (wore one foward and one backward). Cell phone just in case. NO jewlery. Travel bag to hold stuff you came in and stuff you need for stay.

They told me to that they want me to wear there gowns and I did also wear one forwards and the other one backwords plus they also gave me a housecoat to wear over the gowns. They had also given me some rubber bottom slippers so that I do not slip on there floor. Yes definatly bring chapstick along, thank goodness my daughter had one in her purse to give to me in the hospitol. I love to listen to music because you can only watch so much TV. So I made sure my MP3 player was charged up and filled it with my favorite songs and I listened to my MP3 player everyday for a few hours. In fact I was listening to it and I fall asleep for a few hours with the MP3 player on my ears. I slept right threw dinner with it on. The guy who brought my soup juice said that he did not have the heart to wake me up and waited till I woke up and then he gave me the soup and jello. My Mp3 player sure helped me pass my time and I also put it on during the night when I took walks by myself. It was more enjoyable to walk with it on then with nothing at all. Because at night hardly no one was walking on the floor.

Ok, so apparently I was the puny one! Kitty - you walked by yourself in the hospital??? holy cow!

#1 - toothbrush and toothpaste -- very important as they dont let you drink til you have the barium swallow to check for leaks - my nurse let me brush often and swish and spit - helped the dry mouth a lot!

#2 - lip balm

#3 - my fav bath&bodyworks lotion - the scent was so nice as they wouldnt let me shower either!

#4 - socks, slippers, robe for walking

I mostly slept - hint: keep your cell phone in bed with you. You wont be very mobile and if you need someone and cant reach them you can just call (I had an issue with nursing staff not answering call button so I called thru the switchboard for help!)

I never got a chance to:

Wear the clothing I brought
shower
brush my teeth

I wore their clothes, slipper socks, etc. You aren't there very long and for me, by the time I wanted something, it seemed I was going home...and was READY TO DO SO!!!......I wouldn't suggest taking much at all.....bare necessities!

Do your self a favor, I brought my own pillows, 2 kingsize ones for either side of me and standard one for my head, their pillows suck and they are flat. I also bought my own fleece blanket, glad I did it was comforting and smelled like home. I also brought Lined crocs to wear for roaming the halls after surgery, they wanted us up and walking that very day, to lessen the chance of blood clots. Then I just bought the basics underware, my own pjs, change of clothes (loose) a book, never got to read though. Don't bring toiletries except tooth brush and paste and brush and deoderant, they supply the rest, like soap and lotion etc... I also brought bottled water, they tend to give you tap, yuckers. I know, my husband was like your only gonna be there for 3 days, not a month, but I'm glad I packed that way made me more comfortable. Oh almost forgot also brought my cell phone too... Good Luck
