Red face Totally O/T, but i don't know who else to ask....

This is totally off topic from WLS, but I have been searching the net and still can't come up with any answers or diagnosis to my little issue. So, thought I would throw it out here for opinions and a lil help from our great doc Up until a few weeks ago, I have always had VERY regular periods. (start the same time, end the same time) I was on birth control pills before and after WLS- no issues. A few weeks ago, I got what I thought was my period 2 weeks early. It's very light, but I have continued to have it every day, up until today. I should have started "my real period" about a day or so ago. So, my question is....What does this mean? Should I call my doc? Possibly be pregnant? Help!?!?

BTW.... I reached century club today!!! YAY!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hey, congrats on the Century Club.
You should call your gyn/ob.

The rapid weight loss releases a lot of estrogen--female hormones--which will 1) throw a curve in your periods, and 2) render hormonal methods of birth control --pills, patches, depo shots etc--ineffective.
The spotting is more likely due to disruption of your menstral cycle due to 1), but since you were depending on pills for BC, and you are engaged (congrats!!) I wouldn't rule preganacy out.

Incidentally, even if you are pregnant, your ticker says you are almost at goal now, and you're 10 months out of surgery, so, though it's a tad earlier than surgeons recommend, you should be able to have a good and safe preganacy and give birth to a beautiful baby with the help of an experienced obstretician and your surgeon.

Congratulations on the weight loss! I would take a test and let us know most likely it is hormonal. I experience the same thing some times.

Yesterday I got my period two weeks early!!! Which, of course, made me wonder if my BC pills were working. Until today (after reading Doc's posts) I was not aware that my birth control pills were not effective. My surgeon and family doc both told me they would work (apparently, they were wrong). It's time for Hubby to get a vasectomy anyway.... Thanks for the info, Doc... I would NOT be a happy camper if I ever became pregnant!!!!

Thanks for the information doc! As always ladies, thank you for your concern and well wishes- you are all truly the best!

So, I just took a test- not pregnant!! YAY! This wouldn't be the worst thing to happen, just bad timing. I'm just starting to plan my wedding! LOL

I've done more reading Online, and it says that "spotting" can also occur do to a change in eating habits and stress. Well, last week when I was on vaca I was not eating so well. I think we went out to eat every day And maybe getting engaged would be stress/excitement? Who knows, but I have an appt for my yearly physical in a few weeks so I will bring this issue up.

Thanks, again!
