Default Anyone experienced muscle pains?

7 months post op today. I get my protein, water and vitamins in daily. I am down 122 lbs as of this morning. However, the last few days the muscles in my legs (above my knees) are very uncomfortable - to the point of being painful. I've taken a hot bath, had my husband massage them, I've gotten out of the house to take a walk and stretch out, and still the pain is there.

Wondering what DOC has to say and also wondering if others have ever experienced this. Could it be WLS related or maybe a vitamin deficiency?

Thanks!

Tina

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Thanks! Glad to be back and busy trying to catch up.

It is an actual pain - not cramping, though now I wish it was so that it was just a deficiency you thought.

Hope DOC comes on soon - I intend to call my surgeons office tomorrow depending on what I come up with here, of course. But its nice to know others experience some of the same things as well.

Hey, welcome back, glad to hear your project is progressing well.
Congratulations on your wonderful weight loss, 122lbs gone means you've hit Century Club then some, and getting very very close to Onderland

If it's muscle pain, it could be related to back trouble.
I posted a couple of days ago in another thread, but because of your excess weight, you would have put a lot of stress on your back regardless of whether you actually had symptoms or not, so you may need to have that checked.
Have you been exercising? If you started a new exercise routine, that can cause pain for a while. too.
Another dx that comes to my mind, and sorry to say this isn't a good one, is fibromyalgia, but from what I know, generally, this improves with weight loss.

In any case, call both your PCP and surgeon, and have blood labs done, if you haven't had one within the last 6 months as well as other examinations to determine the cause.

DOC: thanks for your response. Quite interesting actually. I looked my fibromyalsia and found that it is sometimes confused with hypothyroidism, which I have had for many years. My team of doctors has been watching my TSH levels very closely (I just had a full work blood work up today) and now I am wondering if something with my TSH levels is off.

The human body is amazing isnt it? You do one thing to it and it sets off other areas... fix that area and break another one. So testy it is!
