Unhappy Carbonated drinks

Ok, someone tell me again why no carbonated drinks like seltzer, not even diet soda's. I really miss seltzer.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Doc says that its not good for the pouch and it also brings on those bad cravings that we dont want. I use to be a huge diet coke drinker but have not touched the
stuff since the day before surgery. I dont care anymore. In the begining I use to
think I wanted one but I think its all in our head. Like head hunger but head thrist.

Drinking carbonated beverages will put gas into your pouch. Most surgeons will strongly urge you not to consume sodas, beer, etc. because of this. In some cases, emergency surgery had to be done because the carbonation caused stitches from the surgery to come undone. Also, drinking a lot of sodas has led people to gain weight, and could be one of the major causes of some cases of obestiy. So I would only advise trying carbonated beverages on this basis: wait until you're at least 6 months out. Pour the soda into a glass, and let major portion of carbonation dissapate over 15-20 minutes. Then drink slowly. I drink diet sodas, and I'm 22 months out. This is how I do it. I then consume the soda over a 45 minute period of time or so. NO MORE gulping carbonated beverages for the post op. You also mentioned seltzer. Is this straight or with alcholic beverages? If it's with booze, then you've got another issue. POST op RNY type surgery patients will get drunk on one drink. From a post from the doc here, one drink to the post op will affect you like drinking 5 drinks before surgery. So, you'll get drunk easy, but the effects wear off quickly too. WARNING: you blood alcohol will stay elevated. Even though you feel good enough to drive after having 2-3 drinks over a 1-2 hour period of time, if you get stopped by the local traffic officers, you'll likely FLUNK a blood alcohol test, and end up with a DUI. Another forum yesterday, a woman spoke of 4 women in her surgeon's office with pending DUI's.

This is a question so many wonder about. Yea its tough not to have it. I was a Dr Pepper freak. I loved it so much. I even dreamed about swimming around in a bottle while in the hosptial because I knew I couldnt have it. I will tell you not to drink it. But you if you think you need to have the taste put it in your mouth and let the bubbles disolve. Only in a small amount. This will ususally take away your craving for it. Me.......yes I tried Dr. Pepper. I found it way to sweet now and wont drink it. Nothing carbonated appeals to me now. Even when my brain tells me I want some all it takes is a sip and its over. I have found this true with alot of foods and beverages. So its your decison. All we can tell you is why they ask us not to.

I have often wondered the same thing. I was told not to at all. I have to have a taste though! I know it's mental but I like the bubbles, so I do-diet only. I do like Dave as well only, I am 3 months out. I never have more than one a day, which is actually half because I never finish.
