Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I don't think there's a clear guidline yet for bypass patients.
I've done some search--not really much-- but haven't come up with a clear how many calories.
So, I'll post the recommendation from JDS--Japan Diabetes Society.
The first half of pregnancy, add 150 kcals to your daily cal requirement as calculated from your present weight.
The last half, add 350 kcals to your daily cal requirement.
During breast feeding, add 600 kcals to your daily requirement.

ADA (American Diabetes Association) has no numeral guideline so to speak.
However, it does have some recommendations.
1) Control your blood sugar level and keep it within the recommended nubmers.
2) Hypocaloric diets in obese women can result in ketosis, which is not good. However, moderate caloric restriction (reduction by 30% of estimated energy needs) is possible without adverse effects.
3) You can limit your carb intake, but you do need to keep it at least 175g, and distribute it among 3 small to moderate size meals and 2 to 4 snacks.

I'm drawing from the respective medical society for diabetes' guidelines because of the population of diabetics who are overweight. Dietary guidelines for the overweight/obese are the clearest with these societies.

Based from these guidelines, calculate how much you yourself need at the weight you get pregnant, then add 150-350 kcals depending on your stage, watch your intake and your weight so you gain only what's enough for the baby--that's the weight of the baby, the weight of the placenta and the amniotic fluid. plus a few lbs for yourself and breast feeding. Be sure to bring down your intake to just what you need for yourself when you stop breast feeding.

Im Not Even Worried About Gaining Im More Worried About Losing Too Much. With My First I Lost 30lbs While I Was Pregnant Because I Just Never Had Much Of An Appetite. But I Was Heavier So The Wt Loss Didnt Hurt Me Or The Baby. So Thats What Im Concerned About.

Thanks Doc
