Default can someone give me some ideas please

Hello everyone, I was just wondering if someone could give me some ideas of what you all eat for a day. Im having a problem with getting in al my protein and water in. I guess Im having a problem with getting used to eating 6 times a day. If I lay down for a nap, that messes me up and I miss a snack. If would be great to find out what you guys all eat, for example, breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, and supper, and snack. I would be greatly appreciative of any advise, ohhh btw, Im lactose intolerant and cant do soft eggs.
Thanks Donna

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

wow you cant do shakes either then huh? thats gonna be HARD. ok...no cheese either?? i lived off that and yogurt as snacks. um, fish, can you have tuna salad or chicken salad? shrimp? tuna is HIGH in protein. its good too if you can tolrate the texture.

are you in soft moist or are you up to regular solids?

ok.
i use to do

B:1/2 pouch of low sugar oatmeal
S:1- 2 oz of cheese (favs are pepper jack and cheddar) 4 wheat thins
L:1 - 2 slice of turkey rolled up
S:2.5 ozs of tunafish
D: shake
S: if i was hungry id have pudding or something

this is just an example. you could look thru the "what are you eating?" threads. there are so many ideas in there and we usually post to it everyday.

can you handle chicken? i ate that everyday for a while. rotisserie worked EXCELLENT for me, also sirloin, ground beef (chilli or burgers or meatballs) i still cannot eat steak for some reason.

if i have fruit i make sure to have protein with it; usually cheese otherwise i dump
i hope this helps.

I used to make my shakes without milk! Just use water, ice, protein powder and toss in some frozen fruit...kick the blender on smoothie setting...and VOILA!!

My surgeon didn't have us eating 6 times a day...he sent us home eating where he wanted us ending up...3 meals a day...I started off eating 2 and drinking one...then progressed to 3 whole meals a day...sometimes, I still have a shake at night...

This was harder for me earlier too. I know it can be daunting. I have become lactose intolerant as well. I do one 30 g shake (nectar protein) that i make with water, then three meals. Lactaid seems to agree with me..so you may try that with a half cup of whole grain cheerios and maybe some banana in the morning, I do either turkey and cream cheese roll ups for lunch, or eat about 2 oz of tuna on whole grain crackers, and for dinner, either chicken, turkey burger, lean steak or hamburger, or even a multi bean chili with some turkey added is going to give you tons of protein in a small amount of food.

Good luck and congrats on the progress!

This is still hard for me! Especially the water- I get my protein drinking one Isopure, Nectar Whey or Whey Bullet a day. Otherwise I don't make it. I try to do a combo protein/other like cheese w/ whole wheat crackers, banana w/ pnt btr, meatloaf made with veggies in it (spinach), fish w/ veggies, slice of turkey rolled with cheese. Just some ideas....... I think you almost have to find a liquid protein source (or a bar) you like to get it all in at the beginning.

For Breakfast I got hooked on Morning Star Veggie Scramblers, they weer high in protein and were GREAT! I also came home with only 3 meals a day. I lived on the 2 oz can of Tuna for lunch every single day because of the high protein and I would add some shredded cheese to it. I also keep a bag of frozen shrimp on hand just for a quick and easy meal for me that is high protein. It gets easier and easier! 7 months out and I still have a hard time getting all of my water in at times. I found it easier for me to drink from a 32 oz size cup so that I know how close/far I am from the water goal. You will definately find "tricks of the trade" as you go along.

I'm struggling myself. I have to drink the nectar protein in crystal light to get 20 oz of water and 23g of protein to start my day or it's over before it starts!

My job makes it very difficult for me to drink or even eat at regular times. I get lunch (maybe) between 11am-1:30pm and in a few weeks I start taking call which means I stay until everything is done and there are no breaks to eat or drink, so those days will be pitiful. It's only 3 days a month, so I'll have to deal with it.

What I do is make everything I eat mostly protein since I only get 2 meals a day and maybe a snack. I made a really good lunch for this week. I took a can of the chicken in water, 2 hard boiled eggs, 1/2 cup of peas and mixed it with some light miracle whip, salt and pepper. I ate it all week and took 4 whole wheat crackers and in total it was over 85g of protein split 5 ways.

Cheese is awesome. I got the sorrento provalone slices and they're 5g of protein per slice. I've had meatloaf, turkey, rotissere chicken, shrimp, salmon and it's all awesome.

I'm having trouble with some dairy too, but it may be because I was trying to eat it too early in the day and I can't eat early anymore. I will try again, when I'm brave.

This is definitely a learning experience. I think more about food now than I ever did before and sometimes it's exhausting. We'll get the hang of it, everyone else did!

Hi Donna,

I can't believe how far you've come since I saw you the day of my surgery and your consult.

Here is my eating plan. I eat a lot more than the others around here, but I am still losing and it allows me to work out without getting run down.

B - 1 c. SF choc milk (7g P)+ 4 Tbsp skim milk powder (9g P) + 0.5 c. water OR
1.5 c. milk (13.5g P) + 2 Tbsp skim milk powder(4.5g P) + SF Carnation Instant Breakfast (5g P)
S - 1 cheesestring (6g P) + 1 turkey pepperoni (6g P) + 11 Wheat Things (1g P) + 1 manderin orange
L - 100g Pinty's cooked chicken breast (24g P) + 1/2 c. salad or a few cherry tomatoes + Balsamic vinegar + Grapeseed oil + 1 manderin orange or no sugar added peach cup
S - 1 cheesestring (6g P) + 1 turkey pepperoni (6g P) + 12 Tiny Twists Pretzels (1g P)
D - White tuna snack OR low fat lasagna OR Pasta & meat sauce OR Steak & salad OR some kind of protein with veggies (all are in the 17-25 g P range)
S - 2 mandarins OR no sugar added peach cup OR whatever

For drinking I have my milk above,

This gets me in the 80-100g of protein range. I used to struggle too until I found the fully cooked chicken. I got it at Costco and a 1 kg package is around $15, but now I am not eating out at work, so it really is not that expensive. The package lasts me for 10 lunches.

I also get the Grimm's Signature turkey pepperoni there. They are low fat, 50 cal, and not too bad for sodium.

I hope that helps.

Tonya
