| How big was your pouch made?
I dont know why, but I thought it was going to be 30mls....I have no idea how I came to that conclusion.... It was made to 15mls....
I constantly feel like I have eaten a whole pizza with a side of fries and a milkshake....overstuffed, even if I havent eaten!
I know that everything is still a bit swollen etc, but I am really really struggling to get fluids in...only managed about 200mls today (not including 70mls protein shake and kiwicrush 100mls) but even added together, thats only approx 370mls.... the nut said about a mizone bottle which is 750mls....
I am sipping slowly, but still feel like im about to burst!
Any advise please?

i have no idea LOL. i know when i first came home ONE OUNCE of fluid was my limit LOL. i was so stuffed as if i had eaten thanksgiving dinner and had to adjust my belt. of course now its not like that. i think now i can hold 4 - 5 ozs of solid food comfortably. anything more and i get that feeling....
take your time.
in the beginning i used a medicine cup which is one ounce. i was told to make it last 5 sips...and surprisingly that did last 5 sips, and it helped me to slow down.

I have no idea how big my pouch is and never thought of asking my doctor, and I am also very curious now how big my pouch is. For me I can get a little over a cup of soup with it being at least half water. But I try to stick to only one cup of soup and I also get in 1 cup of chili, that is pretty runny and not thick chili. Now for the meat part it is usually around 2 to 3 oz and every once in a while I can get in 4 oz. of meat. and then I am full and I am full longer with heavy meat. My problem is when I get busy I forget to eat in between my meals. Becasue I am suppose to eat 6 small meals a day. It has happened to me that I missed two meals in a row already. But at the beginning I could not hardly eat anything and I hated food at the beginning and once I could eat chili I almost lived on chili becasue that was the one food that agreed with me the most. In time when the pouch and everything else heals the eating will get better.

I have no idea the size of my pouch but I go see surgeon on Monday so maybe I'll ask. There is NO way you will get in all of your fluids yet. I am 7 weeks post op and I am just getting there with the fluids. I'm still no where near the amount of food I should be able to take in. One thing these girls taught me was to relax and let my body heal. Your pouch is very swollen right now. I also sipped from a 1 ounce cup for serveral weeks.
Hang in there each week gets a little easier.

It's true Leelee,
at this point you are so swollen on the inside. I think it was FemmeMode that wrote in the beginning she kept a timer and every 15 minutes she had about an ounce of water or so...?...(what discipline!)
point being, you have to sip slow and sip little. I'm almost 9 weeks and just getting to where I can drink with out having to really pay attention (can't gulp..). The first few weeks I was lucky to have enough time in the day...because it was so little each time.

My surgeon recommended "two sips every 15 minutes from a water bottle", a sip being about one ounce. If you stick to this schedule, in an hour you'll get 8 ounces. In 8 hours, you'll get 64 ounces, well within the recommended regimine of fluids. This also includes any protein shakes that are water or skim milk based. If you can stick to this type of regimine, you'll do fine. Bring a water bottle with you everywhere you go. If you don't like just plain water, flavor it with Crystal Lite powder, or use 1/3 Gatorade in the water bottle, and the rest water.
