i have 6 months to build strength. I know it wont be easy but if anyone has any tips i would appreciate it. I have to do 25 sit ups (the real ones) I have to run a mile and a half in under 15 minutes and i need to do 15 push ups. i cant do ONE push up. as for the sit ups, my tail bones hurts but i can only do 5 (why couldnt they require crunches? i think my body ate itself during rapid weight loss LOL. i have NO muscle tone at all.... I don't know much about lifting and what does what or how to start...but for now, use heavy cans or anything that is about 5 pounds and start mock lifting...arms in front of you, palms up, curl in towards your chest, and butterflys, arms out to side, then in towards your chest, bending at elbow. I know less weight and more repetitons is cardio, more weight - less repetitions is weight training.

Set A Goal For Your Self Each Day And Add One More Extra Sit Up, Push Up, Etc In The Work Out Each Day Or Every Other Day And It Will Get Easier. Same Thing With Running Run Just A 1/4 Mile And Then Add To It As Time Goes On. If The Test Is In 6 Mo Then I Suggest You Start Building Your Strength Now Hun

From the number of push ups, sit ups and the 1 1/2 mile run, my guess is that you have your annual physical fitness test coming up, right? Start your run by walking daily. I can walk daily, at a fast pace if I want to, but normally I just walk at a steady medium pace. Start out with shorter distances and back home, then extend the distance. If weather is bad, go to a mall to do this. You should eventually be able to jog. It will probably take you a while to get back to the 15 minutes 1 1/2 mile limits you mentioned. You can start upper body exercises by using your body weight against the wall or a slight incline, instead of doing push ups. Use household goods, like cans or jugs of water to help build up strength. Good luck on your annual fitness test. I did that for the Naval Reserve for 25 years, as a crypto tech. I finally had to retire due to heel spurs, and each time I did that 1 1/2 mile run, I ended up with painful shin splints for several day.

Kenya, I think the only way I could reach these goals were if I actually committed myself to a gym or trainer. Just like the 6 months prior to surgery knowing I had to weigh in each month made me more aware of what I was doing. Get a buddy or 'new man' to go with you. My daughter took this test and missed by .7 seconds and now she is so committed to working out for the next test in 6 months. She even dropped 8-9 lbs and didn't need to. Good Luck |

you can lift weights if you want or just start doing the things that you have to do, start small, do them every day and add more every week. it does get easier and easier the more u do them, i couldnt do any of those not long ago either, then i started doing them at the gym and have worked up to 100-300 crunches, 50 pushups and i run a mile, every day, but it does take time, good luck girl!

Considering how important this test is, I would invest in a trainer (if you can afford it). You'll see better results if you have a professional helping you out. Good luck!!! |

I agree with getting a trainer. I personally need someone like Jillian from the "Biggest Loser" to make me push myself. As for the push ups use a window sill. Stand up ,legs extended , tuck your bucket in (tush), do pushups all the way down and back up until you have built enough strength to do them normal. You also don't need weights. Yo can use resistance tubing using your own body weight to build up strength. Good luck. I know you can do it.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Kenya - you can totally do this! Pick up some inexpensive weights, start with 2 or 3 pounds and just do some building exercises every day, you'll build muscle before you know it. Start walking, then go faster and faster a little at a time. Hire a personal trainer and you'll be totally amazed how very strong you will be in 6 months! |
