| Heimlich maneuver
A freind asked me the other day what would happen if you started to choke, since heimlich maneuver has to do with pressure applied to the stomach making the lodged food 'pop', Does any one know? Do you carry anything that says you had bypass surgery??

HM really has nothing to do with pressure on the actual stomach LOL. you should be fine if you choke some people on here were contemplating medic alert bracelets. i never got one but probably should...

Really? Nothing to do with stomach? I was told the pressure is applied and the 'wind' (for lack of a better word...) or pressue...from the lower stomach is what 'pushes' the lodged food up - that's why smacking someones back is actually bad, pushes it down. Are you sure Kenya, I mean, not to question you, but this person took a CPR class (so she said) -I can't say either way, I really never learned the Heimleich.

the medic alert bracelet is to let a medic know you are a bypass patient in the event you cannot speak; like if you get in an accident or something. so they dont go in blind trying to tube you etc.

Oh, cool, that makes sense - Duh...
like I said, I never learned it, but I'm still glad I asked. What about these bracelets, what are they for?

Yup, it's the diaphragm that's pushed up. That applies pressure to the lungs, so the air in the lungs will be pushed out, thus pushing the stuck whatever out with the air.
Med alert braclet that says RNY GBS patient, no blind NG tube.
