Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I started swallowing pilss the morning after surgery!! I don't crush now, though I do still use chewable vitamins/calcium (I actually kinda like them....YES...I"M WEIRD!!! LOL)

I swallow allergy tablets, biotin, estrogen, tylenol...whatever is on our safe list....whenever necessary!

Kath - I like the chewables too! I treat them like a snack sometimes! (Now I'm the weird one!!!!)
Sorry Amina - I too take mine whole. I feel really full really fast and bloated, but they're small for the most part.

I think for the most part you will have to break or crush your pills. You do not want them to get stuck sitting crossways or something. Hopefully, other than your vitamins and B12 you will not need to take any other pills after 6 months or so. I've already got to take away several of my pills away.

Hang in there!

Use applesauce and take them that way. Don't do it all at once either. I had to adjust mine taking them throughout the day because I knew I was filling my pouch up. I don't know how long you will have to do this because....... 2 months after my surgery they did a EGD on me and found a nexium capsule still sitting in my tummy from 18 hours before. I now open it and take it that way. Applesauce is the way they give them to elderly patients in the hospital so they can swallow anything that is crushed. I notice they use baby food applesauce.

I do hope this gets better for you honey. I know meds taste horrible. Maybe ask your surgeon the next time you see him how long it will be before you can do whole pills again. Take care.

The day will come when you can take pills without crushing.
Just be patient.

I think that I was able to start taking the pills in whole form about 4-6 months. I was scared to death the first time, but it gets easier and easier.

I am also only two weeks out. I had them give me smaller bp meds because I couldnt take even the split ones because the inside would foam. uchhhh so they gave me 50mg and I just take three but anyway my DR told me not to take anything larger then 7mm so I use my little measure tape in my sewing kit if I have a question on size, but for you and I right now we still have swelling at our staple line sites and have to let these heal.. And I have found that baby bananas have been the best for putting meds in. I take pills for my gall bladder to help keep it healthy during this and I have to open them they are to big and for me I cant even taste them in the baby bananas. I got a few diff kinds like the applesauce and stuff and I have used all my bananas and you only need a small amt of it to put the pill in. I need to go to the store tomorrow..lol

I have only recently been able to take my multi vit and calcium without crushing. I take the calcium at bedtime to give it plenty of time to dissolve and absorb. I've been fine with smaller tabs (tylenol and biotin) since about 6 mos.

I'm not sure when you can take a pill whole....but right now I would chew anything I had to because getting something "stuck" is my biggest fear! I crushed a dulcolax last night and it was about 1cm wide and I was still scared to swallow it!
