No no honey it dont hurt. You will be asleep while they do this. You will pretty much go in, have a IV go to sleep then wake up. No pain. You wont feel anything after you wake up either. I have had this done twice and there is nothing to it.

It shouldn't hurt. However, if the sedation is not enough, you can gag badly.
Whether you will put completely to sleep will be up to the person who's doing the scope, but these days, the norm is, they sedate you pretty heavily.

Hello, I had to have the scope done 3 times!!! Don't worry, I was the exception and not the rule. I was pretty much out of it except the last one I did wake up at the end but really didn't feel too much. You will be fine. It isn't as bad as you think and it really does help if you are having problems like I did. Good luck sweetie....Bonnie

Well, the one makes you so you feel like you are flying and don't care what is going on and the other, versed, makes you forget the whole thing anyway. I fell asleep and only woke up when I felt like they were trying to shove a garden hose down my throat. "Swallow" the doc said and I did a few times and fell back to sleep again. Afterward, I woke up and asked if anything had happened... didn't remember much. Our son was laughing at me "Mother, you asked that before."
Not a bad experience at all... and the gastro doc was um... easy on the eyes so that helped!
