Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | This might be a stupid question, I really like to eat onions. I like them if I cut them up in slices and then put salt on them and let them stand for a few hours and just let them get soft. Then I add a little splenda and a little bit of vinegar and I can make a meal out of them. I loved them before surgery and I still love to eat them after surgery. Now my question is, is onions hard on our pouchs is it ok to eat onions. Is it going to hurt our pouches. Yesterday I was chopping onions for a dish I put in the oven and so I cut about a fourth of an onion up and put it into a dish and marinated the onions and I ate all of them at one time and my pouch did not hurt at all. I felt good, but I do not want to overdo it if it is bad for our pouches. I am looking forward to fresh onions from my garden this summer. Does anybody eat radishes and are they ok for a person to eat. I have not touched one yet but I have been tempted to eat one. I cannot wait to enjoy my garden veg. this summer.

Weight Loss Method Physician Prescribed Diet/Exercise | From what I understand (which is purely intellectual) it's very individual. If you like Jalepenos and can eat a couple of table spoons without them bothering you at all--that tells you that food is okay. Then if you go to eat an egg and it makes you , that tells you that eggs are not at this time okay for you. If you can marinate an onion and eat one, as long as it's not taking the place of your protein, it's really YOUR TUMMY that tells you yes or no, not someone else's tummy!XOXO Marti |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Many people crave spicy foods after RNY surgery. Don't know why, but it seems quite common. As long as you don't have a "pouch ache" or diarrhea, I'd eat them every so often. But, I wouldn't make them one of your primary foods. Add onions to other protein foods, or even salsa.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | It sounds yummy...my one thing I will say is this: protein first and most! You gotta get in the mind frame of "where's the protein" and not eat filler foods which onions to me would be. I would use them as 'once in a while' thing

| Super Moderator | For any veggies, if it agrees with your pouch, it's fine. However, as Dave and Bree say, your pouch is small. That means that you can't eat everything of what you crave, even if it's good for you and pouchy agrees. You need to get your quota of protein in first, then some carbs, and filler foods (which is what veggies essentially are, other than for vitamins) come last. (((((HUGS)))))
