Has anyone ever tried this? I started taking it yesterday morning and it is the nastiest stuff I have ever tasted. I have even tried to dilute it with apple juice and that doesn't help. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make it easier to get down? Thanks!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

There are a wide variety of protein shakes and protein premade drinks, protein bullets, protein concentrates, etc. The vast majority of them do not make the "top ten taste test" and need some help. I speak to many women at support groups who use the protein bullets, and they dilute the 1/2 of the bullet in a bottle of water, and add crystal lite or other SF flavorings to enhance the taste. I looked up the product you mentioned, and it appears similar to Prostat 64, a concentrate that tastes somewhat like cough syrup. But if it's the only protein you can tolerate, it's better than no protein supplement. Best is whey protein. I just got a protein concentrate in small bottles from Amazon, at 12 two oz bottles for $13.48 per case on auto shipment in a citrus flavor. My wife got the same bottles locally in a cherry flavor, at a cost of about $2.75 per bottle. She's the one I get the dried peas for, and hates whey protein shakes. Your basic choice is to "bite the bullet" and drink it unflavored, flavor it, or throw it away and try another brand. But most of them leave your taste buds with a bad feeling.

Proteinex-18 is a pre-digested liquid protein. In 1 oz. there is 18 grams of protein. I found it on Bariatric Advantage - Nutritional Supplements, Vitamins, Proteins, and Help for Gastric Bypass, Distal, Lap Band, Realize, Stomaphyx and Duodenal Switch Surgery Patients. It doesn't taste that great, but hey it has 18g of protein. You can't go wrong with that!

18 grams of protein in 1 oz is really good - just got to hold your nose and swallow - sounds like diluting it is like pulling off a bandaid rreeeeeaaally slow!

Dave - you worded that so incredibley well, reading it just makes you remember how bad they taste and you want to both laugh and cry at your descriptions!

I try to be honest and put whatever truths I'm aware of in my posts. I attend 3 support meetings per month, as that helps me. I learn things there, and spoken to hundreds of RNY patients over the past 2 years. I learn from them too. I also like to do Intenet research, and often share that info with these forums too. I like to use plain english, with a touch of humor or scarcasm to make the information enclosed mor memorable. Reading bland information (like history) always gave me problems in school--difficult to remember. But if I had a hands on experience (making something)or some phrase or memorable phrase, it made it easier to remember that information.

ohhhh trust me, mixing those things with water drags out the entire rotten experience!!!! The ones I have purchased are 2.9ozs and when you drink them it IT NEVER goes down, its always 2.9 oz full!!! LOL.

I have a few left and do dillute them with no more then 1 oz of cranberry juice, this cuts it for me to not vomit them back up!!

also...according to my dietician, they are made with whey protein and if you are lactose intolerate...stay away from them!

I'm glad you can drink them, what a great way to get in your protein fast..only 1oz to drink!! maybe I'll try one, I'm ordering some food from the bariatric sites.
