This is making me crazy. Several times now co-workers have come up to me to tell me I look great then they ask the 'big' question.....how are you doing it? I have always been opened about having surgery. But I always reply like "oh, I had surgery!" What the heck?!?!?! I/we have to work at this thing everyday so why do I push it off like this? Grrrrrr I need a better comeback.

I dont hide the surg. fact either,but,I would like to say oh i did it on my own,but I am not a lying person either lol. I am proud of myself and I quess so what if i had surg. rite? Kathy

Many people are curious about WLS. If the opportunity arises, I'd discuss it futher, after work, at lunch or whatever. It's not worth losing your job, so try to do it outside of work. Or do it on the telephone. I've found that most people are receptive to WLS and have not had one negative comment in the past 2 years on my surgery.

i have always been honest when ppl ask too..it dosnt bother me at all, well maybe sometimes cuz i think some ppl think it was the easy way out when we know that is far from the truth..also my hubby hates when i tell ppl i had wls because he says i work so hard and should just let ppl see that...well whatever i say..i know how hard i work so why let other ppl judge me?? like the tattoo on my leg say..."only God can judge me!!"

I do not mind being open and honest to anyone it is just that I feel like I'm putting myself down for doing this and that is not the case. People at work have been very receptive and that is wonderful. It's me that is having a problem....I guess. I wish I could write this the way it is in my head to myself clear.

You know I never thought of it the way you put it. I say I had surgery. People where I worked knew already and we were such a small office. But one thing i have realized is how many people know somone that had it done. Like when we go to a resturant I dont order a Entree I order like the sides instead and a glass of water or a childs cup of milk. That is when I get a strange look. I usually say I have had surgery so I cant eat anything else. Everyone so far are like OH! My friend had that done or my friends mom or my mom! How about I had surgery to (HELP) me lose weight? |
