If you have one, what information do you have on it? I know we there are many things needed and my nurse is faxing me a list. I just wanted to see what everyone else has been told.

My doctor recommends that I get one, but I think it is more on preference. However, I think it's a great idea just incase something happens.

You should have one. Mine required I get one before he did the surgery and I had to show it to him! LOL. Like he said......its for our own good. I wear mine when im by myself. If the hubby or son is with me I dont wear it. They know the drill. LOL. Make sure its a bracelet or pendent. Some places offer them as anklets. EMT personal look for the pendent or bracelet not the anklets. |

| Super Moderator | I suggest you wear it all the time. Even if you are with either one of them or both, there's no guarantee they will be able to respond in your place.

My recommendation is a bracelet, and grouping your ICE (in case of emergency) phone numbers into one group in your cell phone. That way, EMTs and ER staff can quickly know where/who to contact if there's the need to. I have "Family" grouped into one, and have them listed in their full names and their relation to me e.g. A-husband, B-child , C-child, D-mother, E-brother, F-SIL and so on.

I have a question for you doc and any EMT's. I've seen some pretty beaded medical bracelts that are cute. Some have a plate like standard bracelets and some have a charm. If a bracelet is that pretty and the plate or charm is turned around, will they even know it's a medical bracelet? Is it just better to go with the $15 standard bracelet?
