He did say to expect left sided tenderness for a while and that it would get worse during activities so take it easy if you hurt!

You could always use an 8lbs ball  Last weekend I went to Costco and was lifting boxes full of food and big water bottle cases. That was my first real lifting since surgery (I was about 10 weeks out) and I hurt for days in my incision! Even though the doc says its ok at 1 month....take it easy and be careful!!
