i have a question, is it mandatory or optional to also remove your gall bladder when having the surgery?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Depends upon the Dr. Somtimes they will do a ultra sound before the surgery to see if its ok or if they should remove it.

Depends on the surgeon-

Mine does an ultrasound and if you have ANY stones or signs of an unhealthy gallbladder he takes it out. After surgery your chances of gallbladder issues increases, so he doesn't want people to have to go through another surgery. I had a bunch of stones in mine, so they took it out. I am glad they did! I don't want another surgery for a long time!

My surgeon said that he will give the GB a looksy to see/feel any stones. If all is good, he will leave it.

I asked, "Why not take it out? You are already there!"

He replied that 75% of biliary systems to NOT have issues after weight loss, and if it can remain intact, first do no harm.

I actually never heard of gallbladder removal with bypass surgery. Mine is still in tact.

Gall bladder removal is optional.
It depends on the surgeon, and it will also depend on whether you already have any stones or not.
