| Eating all day vs 3 meals a day
I would like to know everyones thoughts on this.
Do you feel it is appropriate to eat all day or just 3 good meals a day?

Geeeez, What a Stupid Question.......
I started with 3 meals a day for about the first six months then went to 5 meals a day for about the next 4 years. I am much more of a grazer now a days. You can ask Doc Sanae; it looks like I am eating almost all day long. Sometimes I have just a taste, then other time I will eact 5 or 6 bites depending on the density of the food.
Keep in mind that I am 9 years out and kinda know where my gag and dump levels are with different foods. Liquid sugars are still 100% a no-no.
Who else has Stupid Answers for this stupid question...

Craig, I figure you're a grazer partly because you work out of your own home, so you can do whatever whenever!
With a small pouch, 4-5 meals a day probably is most realistic, 3 meals plus small snacks if you get too hungry in-between.
Let your body know that you get fuled at regular intervals, and it'll work on losing excess/stabilizing your weight, and not try to keep everything because it doesn't know when the next "fix" is coming.

Well, I'm a grazer too, I guess. I am home all the time because I've been on the disabled list since 1994.
Like Craig I have a bite here and there and sometimes I have 4 or 5 bites. No sugars, very little fat and low cholesterol always.
I try to concentrate on proteins.

Well i have my days were i graze, another work at home lady who has to serve crackers, chips and cookies to little ones.
BUT for the most part i do eat 3 meals and have 3 defined snacks a day. FOR me i wont change a thing because i have done pretty well in the weight loss. I am a believer of the mini meals but i am hearing surgeons telling people to cut out snacks mine promotes the way i eat.
JUST my two cents worth
lisa

I am 4 years out of gastric bypass. The first year I lost 77lbs. The very next year I had a nother surgery and I gained 25lbs. I now find myself fighting with my weight again. I get hungry every two hours and I have found myself addicted to sunflower seeds. I am glad I had the surgery but I am very disapointed in myself.

((HUG)) ladyjane
perhaps if your really focus on
things ...write down all our eatings
in a journal and really work on going
back to our basics eating the protein
first maybe you will do better.
SORRY you gained back 25...
are their local support groups
you can go to... i find they
help keep the mind in the right
place...and focused
GOOD LUCK!

lady jane, welcome to the board, (((((HUGS))))) Thank you for joining us.
Have you ever considered going back to the starting point? Some drs instruct their patients to do so, you know. Go back to right from immediately post op. Liquids for 1-2 weeks, pureed for another 1-2 weeks, then soft foods for a couple more, then slowly to regular food. This seems to help recondition your pouch.
Hope you'll be able to win this fight.

ladyjane, i'm sorry about the weight gain, i haven't had the surgery yet but the people here who have are always so helpful so you came to a good place for support from both pre-ops and post-ops.
as for the eating thing, even thought i haven't had the surgery yet here's my opinion.
i used to try to eat 3 meals a day and nothing else. found i was gaining weight because of always eating more than i needed in hopes to get through to the next meal without hunger, now i switch to 5 mini meals a day and actually started losing a few lbs. i too am home all day and it is soooo easy to graze and not pay attention that i found i had to write down what i ate, when i ate it and how it was prepared for a few months to get used to it. makes you think twice about what you are putting in your mouth,
