Default 8 days out and hungry. Now what?

OK, I am trying to confine to liquids still.

The protein drinks are getting too sweet for my tastes. But I am pushing them down. drank about 80gms today.

I became hungry for the first time post-op yesterday.

Week two for my surgeon allows cream soup and cottage cheese and cream/wheat cereal. I know pouch should hold 1/4 cup, so that is my amount.
So that is what I have done, 3x/day.

I have not felt nauseous at all since surgery. Last time I threw up was about 2 years ago.

I am still hungry. And tired.

Any views/thoughts?

Love you all!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I still dont get these docs that think you can survive on 3 meals a day that are so tiny. I found the drinks too sweet too, I used 2x the milk to get it to a reasonable flavor and it took forever to get down 2 cups of milk!!!! I use the sf fruit spreads (about 1T) in my cottage cheese for a great flavor - be careful though this early out you dont want any fruit or seeds in it - maybe wait a bit longer. I did good with cream of wheat and I enjoyed cream of chicken soup. What about pudding? dont forget sf popsicles count as a liquid - that may help the hunger. This stage seems long when you are in it but you'll be enjoying a full diet before you know it!

My surgeon requires only 3 meals a day also.....drives me nuts, no because I am a huge snacker, but because I get so lightheaded!!!
Thankfully we were allowed mushy solid food from day 1 out of hospital.

Why are you throwing up????? that doesnt sound too good! not fun at all.

((((((HUGS))))))
You're exactly where most people feel about a week-two weeks post op.
Tired, cranky, craving food, getting sick of liquids, etc etc. Buyer's remorse around this time, if not before. Most probably head hunger time as well.
Your recovery is quite normal, and going very well.

Even though your skin incisions are closed, your insides are still healing at this time. If you had open, you would have a long scar that will remind you that you had a lot done inside you, but you don't, so you sorta imagine, the scars inside are small, too, and should be all healed by now. Wrong. It takes 3-4 months for your inside to heal completely and the functions readjust to the new arrangement.
Give your body time to heal and readjust. You will feel better week by week, but the tiredness will come and go for around 6-8 weeks, though they become farther apart, the further out you get.

((((HUGS)))) You're doing fine, and will do well.

Chicken broth was fab to me during this stage! You will def find your way with the things that help you to move along. It does get easier!! You will get to the point where you have to set a timer to remind you to eat! I too used 2x's the amount of milk in my shakes because of the sweetness. I also used plain vanilla so in case I got tired of the taste, I would add stuff to it...like a banana or Smuckers SF toppings. I really like the Hersheys SF Chocolate and Strawberry milk syrup!

Ahhh, memories! My post-op posts sound just like yours. I was craving any food, sick of any pudding, yogurt, milk, soup, ANYTHING!!! I don't even know when things changed, but here I am 3 months later and I'm good to go. The only bad part I remember was that first week or 2 post op and the rest has been so much better. I don't get nauseous either. I did bring up a tiny bit over the weekend (for the first time in years, let alone since surgery) but it was my fault because I ate too fast.
This too shall pass.

you aren't going to like me for this...but you probably AREN'T REALLY HUNGRY...it's very common at this stage to have "head" hunger...we know what things tasted like before...they operated on our stomachs, not our brains! You will experience this from time to time....I'm 9 months out...and I still don't get TRULY hungry most the time....but sometimes, I have crazy cravings...I think we mourn the things we give up on this journey....it's all about replacing those things that got us to OBESE...with healthy, live-preserving choices!
