Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | As you all know, I had some issues with a stricture, which has set me back a little with food intake.... I went out to dinner last night for my son's birthday & THOUGHT I made a "good" choice... I ordered off the kids menu, chicken & cheese quesadila... My full intent to eat only the chicken & cheese... Well, we ordered the "nacho supreme" for appetizer, & I nibbled on the ground meat, cheese & maybe 2 tortillas with softening them in the guacamole & salsa... So, my meal comes, I am able to get down the inside of 1 1/2 of the triangles.. about 20 minutes later, I thought my choices were well chosen??? Anyone with any suggestions????? Thanks.LOL, |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I think Salsa is too spicy for people as far out as we are. Onions give me a stomach ache and I avoid them. Also, all of that cheese has alot of fat and that might not have agreed with you. Mexican meat is rather spicy also. When I am at a Mexican restaurant I order the chicken fajitas and only eat the chicken and peppers and a little bit of the cheese. I always have plenty to take home. I try to stay away from the Tortillas as they sometimes get stuck on the way down.

| Super Moderator | Even if your food choices are good, your grouchy pouchy may not agree with you, and this sounds like such a case. Also, did you chew chew chew, and eat slowly? That can cause trouble, too. Even if it didn't agree with you this time, try it again in a couple months, and it may agree with you. ((((((HUGS)))))

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I tend to avoid cheese....anything high in fat will make me SICK SICK SICK...I know guacamole is high in fat too, or am I mistaken? Mexican food is hard...I usually split fajitas with DDH, but I eat the beef, chicken, cheese, beans & salsa...I have pretty much sworn off white carbs...so the tortillas would be out for me...bread, rice, pasta or potatos simply take up too much room and I opt for protein, veggies and carbs, if there's room (and there usually isn't) Did you eat fast...that has done it to me SEVERAL times...I figured everything was going good....got the foamies...and UP IT CAME!! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I agree with everyone else...not to mention if the chips were home made they are nothing more then corn tortillas cut up and deep fried in oil. Alot of us dump off of fat, and also the quessadia(sp) is usualy prepared in butter...so you prob cant handle fat or carbs right now |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Unless you chewed that tortillia into mush honey I would say that was the culprit. Honestly your eyes were probally bigger than your tummy. I know how that is trust me. As far as the spicy stuff...... I love it. I love it more now because our taste changed so much we want stuff that has flavor because we cant eat but a bit of it. Its all trial and error for sure. Next time you might be able to handle it just fine. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Yep, high carbs and high fat would set me over the edge for sure! Just take it easy, you will learn what your pouch can handle. Stick with lean meats for now until you know what works best. Fish and shrimp are still what I choose the most as it seems to work well for my pouch- happy eating!

| It may have been a combination of both the carbs and fats. Like overload, I know if I eat to much cheese it makes me queasy. And nothing fried at all not yet I cant even stand the smell of it.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I eat alot of taco bell, I only have a few things that I like to eat and tacos is one of them. I'm still gun shy to eat a tortilla, so my thought is that sent you over the edge, although I do eat the taco bell mexican pizza and that goes down well. I know my choices are not the best, but I have about 10 things that I eat and some days I need higher calories...its working for me now, but I know in the future these won't be the best options.
