Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I had back problems before surgery and although at times the weight loss has eased my pain, it flares up worse than ever especially after my body goes through a change - meaning, if I have lost more weight (my scale DOES NOT MOVE THOUGH) or my body repositions the remaining fat. Anyway, I asked my chiropractor about this. I go faithfully twice a month for readjustment. He told me that the back pain is due to the readjustment of body fat. All of a sudden the stress that was on some muscles is not there and the muscle doesn't know what to do. Or maybe there is new stress on a muscle that had been protected by fat. I don't know if this helps or not, but I could not survive without my chiropractor. Of course, I have herniated disks, but he makes it bearable since I can no longer take Motrin....Try cold for 20 minutes, off for an hour, cold for 20 minutes, off for an hour...

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I had so many back problems before surgery just from my weight. I do not have near the back problems I had before. My leg got numb from being so overweight and then I called a chriopractor about the numbness in my thighs and she told me to go to a massage theripist becasue she told me that I need deep muscle treatment. I went for about two months and my thighs are so good now. She really massaged my body that it was so painful sometimes but it sure was worth it. My muscles were a mess and soo tight and she got them loose and working again.

| Sorry to hear this Becka, it can't be fun with little ones around. Hope it gets better. Do you have anyone near you that does Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy? One of my friends is one and used to work at a chiropractic office. It is amazing! She hits the trigger points in your body and applies pressure and your muscles instantly relax. The first time she worked on me we were in the office over lunch time she and done one side of my back and the phone rang. The office staff was out so she had to answer the phone. The difference was amazing. One side felt like tight rubber bands and the side she had worked on felt like limp noodles. I used to have her work on me before an adjustment and it went so much better. Now I am without a chiro so I have her work on me when I am hurting, which I haven't done in a while so it must be working. Regular massage is good too, but trigger point therapy is tops in my book.

| Super Moderator | What genmel's chiropactor says is what is at the root of the problem. You've been carrying a lot of weight for a long time, and essentially, your body, both bones and muscles are aligned to balance and carry that weight. Since the weight loss is rapid, your body doesn't have the time to realign the balance and carriage, so various places gets stressed out. You need to train your muscles to adjust how to carry your present weight. Stretching exercise may help some. With a good exercise plan, this can be prevented to a certain extent. Also, shiatsu (oriental finger point pressure) and acupuncture will probably work, too. Spikey's trigger point therapy is similar to shiatsu. Since you're in Hawai'i, you might be able to find these places easily. (((((((HUGS)))))) I hope you feel better soon.
