Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Depression is a sticky question to say the least. Because of the drastic changes both in your body, and conscequently the need to adjust your body image, and adjust to the people around you, post op journey is as much a mental trip as it is a physcial trip. Some post ops develop depression post op because of this, even if they had never had depression issues before.
If you are under treatment for depression and panic attacks, make sure that they are under good control, and that your psych dr or your therapist gives you the go ahead for surgery. You will also need to keep in mind that you should stay in therapy during the entire period of going through weight loss post op.
In the end, though, after you've attained goal, have readjusted your life, it is likely the degree of depression will improve with your better self esteem.

FYI: depression in itself is not a reason for being denied surgery, but uncontrolled depression and other psychological issues will cause delays with approval and surgery until the conditions are under good control.

P.S. Your babies are super cute!!!

I do not know what to say either becasue I have never had depression problems. I have always been a happy person but hurt inside becasue of my weight. I overcame that with my surgery and I am happier than I have been in a long time. I was very content with my life but was having problems doing things I wanted to but the surgery also took care of that and I guess I am just a happy person. My family and friends said that I was a happy person before but they sure can see how much happier a person I am today.
I would say do what Doc says, stay with help until you are confortable with yourself.
I was also going to say you have beautiful children.

I made sure I continued on my anti-depression and anxiety meds the minute I came home from the hospital. I had to change one of them from a time release to one I take 3 times a day. I was feeling good before the surgery and I am still feeling good now. I got a little more depressed about 2 weeks out when all I could have was liquid but now that I am back to life as normal I am fine. I suppose I am a bit happier now because the scale numbers are moving down and I am getting compliments on how good I look.

I have had depression and panic disorder ever since I was 15. I started on meds when I was 30, since the surgery I had to change from a time release to a regular form of antidepressant, the time release does not have the time required to release in the new hook up! The depression has not been an issue at all since surgery, but the panic disorder has given me fits!! My psychiatrist said it is the hormones that we have to deal with as we lose the weight and it will even out eventually, and I have to say, I have slowed down recently and the panic disorder does seem to have let up some!

I do go through rolling bouts of depression, at one point I was on meds, but the Dr. and I felt I was doing well enough to stop. BUT I still struggle with it, not to the degree before surgery. I did notice after the surgery, t I get TERRIBLE PMS, and it lasts a good 1 1/2-2 weeks and I am psycho.... Didn't have that problem before.

I guess some of it depends on what your triggers are for both. And I want to say that those kids are lovely and I hope you feel better soon.
