Default Can someone explain some terms or direct me on where to go?

So today I ate some white fish and it wasn't cooked very well...kinda stringy. (my fault) I only ate a couple of bites and felt the lump and then for the past few hours have had what I think you all call the foamies??????? (Just read that term on here) I just kept having to spit & spit. I just wanted it to come up so bad. I didn't want to leave the house. Finally puked a little bit and now I feel a lot better. Could someone explain what may have happened? Sounds like it maybe normal. What exactly is the foamies? What is a stricture? Just something getting stuck? How would you know if you have that? If stuff doesn't go down, is there anything that helps it go down, or should you just hope it comes up? I was a little nervous but all the old posts made me feel a lot better. Thanks again everyone.

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Ok a stricture is when your new pouch (tummy) trys to heal it self over at the new opening. Your body tries to naturally heal itself when it knows the new place isnt supposed to be there. Symptoms of this is when you cant keep anything down including water. If that ever becomes a problem you need to call your surgeon ASAP!!! It happens to some but it isnt eveyone. Its usually easily fixed if that happens also. They would run a light down your throat ( while your asleep) and dialiate it. Meaning stretch it back open.

As for your foamies..... to me it sounds like that is what you had. Now i have heard people describe different experiences with it. Could it be possibly you eat the fish and didnt chew a piece of it really well? It will feel like it got stuck and takes a while to feel better. In my mind I imagne it laying accross the stoma AKA new opening and not letting anything pass including what ever you eat. This is why its so important to chew the dickens outta stuff before you swallow. When this happens to me....which was once...... when i did throw up it come up with foam looking salavia. Kinda like you whipped eggs up and got them to foam but its clear. That is my definition of it.

I have drank water to help me get it back up and it seemed to work. Any time you get in pain or very concered about somthing call your surgeon as soon as you can. Remember there are no stupid questions. And of course we are here to help you along also.

Exactly!!! Once you get the foamies up and out, you are going to feel soooo much better! It is not something I have dealt with alot, but when it did happen I knew that I never wanted it to happen again. I would just lay down afterwards to get over it. LOLOL I like the whipped eggs comment! I always thought about it like a dog with rabies...LOLOLOLOL

Yes, MsVicky nailed it! The only thing I would add is that for me, taking a sip of water after to try to nudge it along has worked 1 out of 10 times. To me it seems once something is blocking the opening, everything else backs up behind it. And also, you just have to ride it out, you can't make it go down, you can't make it come up, it's almost like waves...spit up a little, think..ok, wait! Spit up a little...until it finally passes or goes through.
Actually happened to me yesterday, we went to a Christening. I had a little cheese, a little cracker, a couple pieces of veggies...did good. Later when the dinner came I started out good, but must not have been paying attention and let too big of a piece of chicken get past...I waited to see, but in a few minutes got that feeling, dry heaves...high tailed it to the ladys room before any one saw the cat trying to caugh up a hair ball .
I was in the ladys room for 10 minutes, hoping no one came in, waiting it out...nose running, mascara ruined, ralphing and waiting...had to fix my hair again....came back into the room with my sunglasses on . My hubby feels so bad, just rubs my back...
